i don't want to upset anyone or anything, but was June the sister who sang lead on most of the songs? or did they all sing lead occasionally?

i've heard the pointer sisters songs and all, but i don't know much about them.

sorry to hear about June though, pray
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

they were a soul group who won a grammy for best country song, they were backing singers for sylvester WAY back in the day, and they managed to turn a bruce springsteen song into something soulful and sexy. that alone should give them legend status. i always thought of june as the "face" of the trio. the more i think about it, the sadder it makes me. sad

I heard they also sang back up on one of Betty Davis's albums.

This is very sad news and maybe this isn't justifed but I'm kind of upset with the way she was treated by her sisters. They left her even though the newstory I read had it the other way around.

damn...this morning i heard about Proof (D12)
and now June...
sad what's going on these days?

One died (what i'm sure was) a slow, painful death from cancer. The other (as the story is still developing) was shot in retaliation after he shot someone in a nightclub.

Sorry, but to mention Proof and June in the same post and then wonder "what's going on these days" as if cancer was something June chose to get (in contrast to Proof choosing to engage in a violent conflict), is straight up wrong.

Then again, you really didn't say all that...that's just the way it reads to me.

well, sorry u ended up reading it that way.

im so glad the mainstream media is giving this attention and telling her whole story rather then just talking about her recent troubles...

they are giving her a legends treatment...

Even radio stations that do not play Pointer Sisters songs have acknowledged her passing. Now she is at peace.

R.I.P. June. Very sad.

June Pointer sang lead on "He's So Shy", "Jump" and "Dare Me".

Ruth and Anita sang lead on other hits.

Out of all the sisters June really stood out. She seemed to be the more energetic out of the Three. Especially in all the videos. R.I.P June. Thanks for your energy and all that good music.

I kind of wondered about the same thing. I wonder if they were still close but the bond of sisters can never really be broken.

I usually just hit pause and let it the progressive download finish then I hit play. Keeps me from going mad. wink
