Did Patti Austin Make Any Good Dance Music

She's more a jazz singer, no?

I picked up Quincy Jones' The Ultimate Collection and there's a great uptempo track she's featured on called "Betcha Wouldn't Hurt Me".

Anymore goodies from here like that?

biggrin

P.S. I know she duetted with Michael Jackson on "It's The Falling In Love" so no need to mention that song.

Thanks for the suggestions!

"Razzamatazz" is also on Q's "The Ultimate Collection"...listening to it right now. Not enjoying it as much as "Betcha Wouldn't..." Perhaps a few more repeated listens will do the trick.

She has a great voice!

The Heat of Heat (produced by Jam/Lewis)
Gimme, Gimme, Gimme (w/Narada Michael Walden)
Do You Love Me (a Rod Temperton tune)
Honey For The Bees

These are the only other almost uptempo tunes I can come up with.
Razzamatazz beats them all.

AWRITE ! ... A Patti-threaty thumbs up!
Everyting mentioned here is TOPS !
I grew up with Q's Dude-album and can dream every line that Pats sung on there .
I remember my brother hearing " Betcha Wouldn't Hurt Me " and immediately reacted by saying " Hey , Stevie ! " , without reading the liner-notes .
Steveland Morris had a great input with that track .
Another less fast track on there sung by Patti is " Something Special " .... the atmosphere is catching .
A friend of mine taped a live-performance from Quincy during hid Dude-Tour in Japan .
Patti is vivrant and alive doing a dazzling performance of Razzamatazz .

A few years back i heard a Dj play the " Butterfly " track in a club .
This was amazing to hear , because her last few releases were jazzier and smoother .
Fun detail is that in the end of that song she sings those recognising chorus-lyrics from Razzamatazz .

I've seen her perform twice which was great and hilarious , because she did amazing impressions of Luther Vandross , James Ingram and other singers .
The first performance was as a guest with The Crusaders ...
... the crowd welcomed her as a long lost family relative , overwhelming her with continuous cheers & flowers .
An unforgettable experience for a deeply emotional and impressed Patti and audience .

With the second time i had the opportunity to meet her backstage and she was such fun to chat with .
Making jokes , taking all the time listening to every fan over there and signing autographs on all the memorabilia which was brought by them .

A few more tracks which i can advise is " It's Gonna Be Special " from the " Honey For The Bees " album ( 1985 ) ,
" Solero " , a non-album b-side on a 7-inch single from her 1981-album on QWest Records and " Oh No Marguerita " from that 1981 album .
.
.
.

12" version of 'Honey for the Bees', on Quincy's label. remixed by Larry Levan from 1985.

And one of my favorites is 'It's Gona Be Special' from 1984, on 12" mixed by John 'Jellybean' Benitez. Great song!
