IS ANYBODY ELSE FAINTING AND WEEPING LIKE I AM THIS MORNING???? so I'm flipping the stations this morning and stop dead in my tracks as I hear a killer jam....
I don't know why I love you..... But I love you, yeah yeah yeah yeah you threw my heart down in the dirt you made me cry on this cold black earth baby, I never knew how much love could hurt til I loved you baby, baby, baby, baby, baby, Cant stop, I can't stop crying can't you see? here I'm pleading on my knees, down on my knees won't you help me help me baby please, cuz I love you I love you I love you baby..... I think I held my breath nearly the whole time thinkin...is it?....can it be true??.....sounds like it but..... I listened to the station for about another 15 minutes until the DJ came back on so I could hear if he would give the artist/song title and he did BRAND NEW HEAVIES FEATURING N'DEA DAVENPORT! For any fans who felt disappointed in the last couple albums, especially the last one with Nicole Russo, this new song is STELLAR!!!!!. Their sound is definitely back and this song sounds like a throwback to old soul I was devastated when she left the band. They only did 2 albums together and I consider their second, Brother Sister, to be the bands all time best. I never ever thought I'd hear them together again and it's happenning June cannot come soon enough 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

I heard it on an independent station They probably won't get rotated on corporate radio go to KCRW.com and check out the music shows. They archive them and they have excellent shows. The DJs play whatever they want. Let's put it this way, I have heard Starfish & Coffee and A-U-T-O-matic in their entirety on the Saturday show called "Chocolate City". I am so lucky to have a radio station like this. I subscribe to them every year 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

Actually, when I heard it I first thought of Jackson 5. I know that sounds weird but it's reminiscent of the old soul of the 60s. I think today's KCRW show should be available on the website tomorrow. It should be somewhere at about an hour in. I'll check it out tomorrow and let you know if it's there. The most recent album is more of a pop album vs their usual acid jazz style. I have no doubt, at least from the sound of the lead single, that the sound that defined this band will be in full swing on the new album. Did you ever get any of the BNH albums? If so, what did you think? 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

Is it really a Jackson 5 song??? I must have really good ears because I don't even remember that song and I immediately thought Jackson 5. Know what else it reminds me of??? Stevie Wonders "I was made to love her". Not an exact copy of the sound but that is what also came to mind. That is what I meant by old soul 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

Yeah it's in the chord progressions, and she's singing a few lil-MJ-isms. Right from the yea-yeah adlib intro.

trip the hell out It is a Jackson 5 remake. Sounds great tho. I hope I'm making a fan out of you something kinda scary about a 10 year old singing about stuff like this, although that is back in the days when MJ really tore it up with his singing.....wonder why that didn't translate into his adult years. He never really sang as soulfully as he did back then.
Anyway, kinda creepy this stuff coming from a 10 year old but fitting coming from a grown ass woman. Love the translation here . [Edited 4/6/06 14:30pm] 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

Stevie Wonder did it first though, didn't he? I prefer the J5 version anyway.

Damn, my ignorance is showing because I had no idea it went from Stevie to MJ to N'Dea. But at least I get extra credit for thinking of both these guys when I heard it 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

Flicking through my iPod, I have 3 versions: Stevie, J5 and John Mellencamp - from the 'Conception' Stevie Wonder tribute album. That's a fuckin' great album!
