Covers that DO rock.

I am sure that Pink and her crew torturing Lady Marmelade are examples of how NOT to do it.

I hope people will say that Sinead O'Connor's version of Nothing Compares 2 U is even better than The Family's album version and Prince's lame-ass demoversion combined, which I think it is.

Let's nominate a few covers that DO rock. Like I always loved The Bangles' Hazy Shade of Winter.

What are YOUR faves?

Hehehe. I just had a Tori backlash, after not having played her for a year. I will see her if she plays Paradiso or The Black Box, No problem.

During their shows, Nirvana used to come out and do a little ballet routine to Tori's version of Teen Spirit. giggle

Nirvana - The man who sold the world

Guns & Roses - Knockin' on Heaven's door. Doesn't beat the original but it does rock.

both are great, but i love grace's delivery. she lends herself well to songs about auto accidents as sex.

Belly - "It's Not Unusual"
Deadsy - "Fox On The Run"
Jack Off Jill - "Love Song"
Ministry - "Smothered Hope"
Siouxsie And The Banshees - "The Passenger"

I didn't know that one. Have to find it!

Yeah that's a higher category of cover when the author hands the song over after hearing it.

I thought so also even though a lot of NIN fans didn't care for it, but Johnny’s voice had pain in it, it gives the cover an eerie feel.

Living Colour - 17 Days
Fishbone - Freddys Dead
Shandi's Dream - Calling Dr. Love
Shandi's Dream was a one-off group that featured Rage Against the Machine minus Zach and with Manynard from Tool on vocals from the KISS tribute album.
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Higher Ground.
Doesn't have the same impact today but when it first came out it was like WTF. In a good way.
King's X - Manic Depression
Fantasy is reality in the world today. But I'll keep hangin in there, that is the only way.
