yes, it is!

I've always loved Falco; he released several great pop/new wave albums. Too bad he's only known for Rock Me Amadeus in the US.

yep, and also 4, 5, 6 etc. smile

I'm pretty sure you know "Der Kommissar" when you hear it, his biggest pre-Amadeus hit (it's the track that ripped of Rick James' Superfreak bassline)

I agree that "Rock Me Amadeus" is the best song on "Falco 3", but I think its best version is the mighty 8:21 "Salieri Version" (it was released on US pressing of the album instead of the original), IMO one of the best mixes released in the 80's by any artist.
I also love "Jeanny Part 1".

Yes, yes, but I have turned my pics off because my connections is sooooo damn slow!!! Eye hate it, yes I do!!!

Zurück zu Falco / Ad Falco / Back to Falco:

I think his best works are Einzelhaft (82) and Junge Römer (84). Both records are classics, both produced by Robert Ponger (does anyone know what happended to him?)... unfortunately, it was not the right time for Junge Römer, so it failed... although the title song became a hit in Austria. One of Falco's finest moments, I think.
After all he changed the producer; unfortunately, the new ones were Bolland&Bolland - and the ruined classical Falco, as I see it.

"Der Kommissar" (some parts of the song, e.g. the refrain, is "borrowed" from Rick James' Superfreak), had become a big hit almost all over the world and charted No. 1 even in Canada (as I believe, maybe it was No. 7). A group (I forgot the name), covered that song in English and scored No.1 too (or at least they were high in the charts), maybe even in the US. As far as I see it, there is no weak song on Einzelhaft or Junge Römer, although those records are somewhat different in terms of sound. Both sound still good, and I tend to say that Junge Römer sounds still modern, in a way.

With Amadeus 3, the party was over for me. I like that record, but it's not "my Falco" anymore.

A special recommendiation goes to his 1993 concert at the Donauinsel - maybe his greatest Live show ever. There's a DVD in fantastic overall-quality out there, as bonus, a concert from the Wien Stadthall (Vienna Cityhall) from 1986 is on this DVD. If you like Falco, look out for this gem. You won't be dissappointed!

Here's a question for all Austrian fans:

when Robert Ponger wrote "Der Kommissar", he first offered it too...

... but this man turned it down.

Who knows this man, or at leas his name? smile

I agree.

Does anyone have the English-language version of Jeanny? I have the 12'' version in English, but not the single Edit. I've been looking for the Edit for ages. I had it on the old vinyl 45 of Jeanny, and it was fantastic.
