Recordings That Disappointed You

We are all music lovers in here it seems. I know a lot of us spend lots of money on purchasing music..right? Sometimes we spend money and purchase a recording and we really dig the recording we purchased. However, there have probably been a few times where we have bought a recording and we thought the whole thing or nearly the whole album made you real angry with disatisfaction(save one or two tracks). What recordings have you purchased in your lifetime that you felt were a total waste? A total disappointment, a total shock(negatively) to your system.

I'll give you an example of one of mine... that Sade release called LOVER'S ROCK. I waited 8 years for them to follow up with something good and they release this lame bland album. Sade is a good group.( it is a group...Sade is not the female lead singer.. whose name is Helen Folasade Adu). I was hoping that they would the fulfill the promise of their first two albums DIAMOND LIFE and PROMISE. They are good in concert and have some good musicians. LOVE DELUXE, even though I notice them beginning to get away from real instrumentation, was a great album. The record sold 5 million units in the US.

So my expectations for this album was high. I bought it the day it came out and I was devastated. First of all, only 9 tracks and only 45 minutes of music...AFTER 8 YEARS!!! All would have been forgiven if the quality of the music would have been good. Then I was disappointed in the fact that you hardly heard the band, just a lot of programmed beats. I was so pissed at this record that I listened to it only 2 times, then I told it took it to a used CD store and traded it for something else.

Notice, I said that all would have been forgiven had the quality of the music been good. It's not so much the quantity as it is the quality. It's just that I thought after 8 years, they come with at least 70 minutes, but I was wrong...hope this helps!!!

Sade is not the name of a band. It happens to be the name of the vocalist, Sade Adu.

Sade *is* the name of the band...Sade Adu is what the lead singer goes by...Read your album covers..ALL OF THEM..

I happen to love Lover's Rock...its a great transitional album. If they keep on making the same sax infuzed albums people would really complain. As is, Lover's Rock sold just as much as Love Deluxe and their tour sold out so they must be maintaining their base...Critics heralded it as one of the best albums of last year and CDNOW.com pics it as "Best of Genre" over Love Deluxe even...

My dissapointed album:

Hate to say this but its Toni Child's House of Hope. Following her selftitled debut, this was an okay album...but it didnt carry any outstanding singles...Thank goodness for The Womans Boat...that album is a classic and not enough people listen to it. To sad that she fell ill and no longer records. sad

I have to agree with this, I too waited and waited for a new Sade record, and was very excited about the new one ~ until I bought it and listened to it and thought, "this is pretty weak". She looks great on the cover and is stunningly beautiful in the video, as pretty as she's ever been I'd say, and her voice is still lovely...but the songs suck. I guess I was hoping for more heartache and desperation or whatever. Like Love Deluxe and Stronger Than Pride (no, I didn't just want them to remake those records)

I was kind of happy to see that they made $15 million last year though, I worry about my favorite pop stars starving to death and all

initially I thought the new Hope Sandoval & Warm Inventions really sucked too, but after many listens I can say that she's bringing what she brought in Mazzy Star, only better.

Do you guys just not know about her? Is it the whole heroin-soaked semi-conscious thing? come on, she's great
