Madonna to Make 'Bond Girl' Cameo
Tue Jul 9, 2:06 PM ET

LONDON (AP) - Madonna will make a cameo appearance in the latest James Bond movie, her spokeswoman said Tuesday.

Liz Rosenberg said the singer, 43, who has already recorded the title track for "Die Another Day," the 20th Bond film, was on the set in London to film her brief scenes this week.

London's Evening Standard newspaper said Madonna will wield a foil in the movie as a fencing instructor. The newspaper said she had shot a sequence that will be edited into a swashbuckling scene in which Pierce Brosnan, as Bond, duels with villain Gustav Graves, played by Toby Stephens, at a London gentlemen's club.

Rosenberg said Madonna was flying to Los Angeles next month to film a video for the movie's title song.

Who else had made a guest appearance lately? MJ on MIB2, Madonna in this one, is this the start of a new trend?

Often movie stars like Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Doris Day, Jimmy Durante and most notably Elvis had conurrent singing and recording careers. This is the same ol thang. Nothing new. Matter-of-fact, the move to the silver screen increases their stranglehold on pop culture way after their musical talent ran stale.

LOL you might say that Prince innovated the movie career turning stale way before his music turned.

Since you mentioned Madonna, here's an update...

***The song Madonna has recorded for the new James Bond film is called "Die Another Die (Can You See My Mind)".She shoots the video next month and the song will be released in October.

***Her own movie 'Swept Away' is due in November. It was directed by her husband Guy Ritchie.

***Madonna continues to record her next CD,which probably won't be released until early 2003.She is working with producers Mirwais,William Orbit on a few tracks, and she has just called Dr.Dre to do a few things on the album!

I think it's cool it gives a Artist a different spin. Most Music Artists just don't cut it on the Big Screen.so a Cameo is Cool.Lionel Richie had a Cool Cameo in "The Preacher's Wife" as did Rick James in the film"Life" that is cool because it allows them to do there thing&Bounce.

Don't forget Aretha's scene-stealing cameos in the two "Blues Brothers" films.

the first One I'll give you but the 2nd one doesn't Count Man.I wasn't feeling the 2nd one at all.in the first Blues Brothers you can Make a Argument for Ray Charles with tuning up the Piano.Brandford Marsalis in School Days wasn't to bad either in a Acting role.

This was in my news dept. today, I thought it was interesting; plus it fits in with what we were talking about. Read on:

'MIB' Director Relishes Celeb Cameos
Mon Jul 15, 2:35 PM ET

NEW YORK (AP) - Director Barry Sonnenfeld scored a coup in convincing Michael Jackson to appear as an alien in his new film, "Men in Black II," but the director said the work did not end there.

His cameo lasts only a few seconds, but Jackson was full of questions about his role, Sonnenfeld told reporters. Jackson wanted to know everything about the scene's special effects background. Sonnenfeld thought he was appeasing him by telling him that there would be icebergs, but Jackson wanted more details.

"He said, 'Can I see the icebergs?' 'No we don't have the photos yet.' 'Is there anything else behind me?' 'Penguins.' I'm making this up! I don't know if there are going to be penguins," Sonnenfeld said. "'Can I see the penguins?' 'No I don't have the pictures of the penguins yet.' 'Are they king penguins?' 'Yes.' And then I said, 'You know, I gotta go.'"

Sonnenfeld said the time spent with the inquisitive pop star was well worth it because he gets one of the film's biggest laughs.

The director had an easier time with the film's other big-name "alien" celebrity, Martha Stewart. Sonnenfeld said he knew she'd easy to work with because she was such a sport about having her head superimposed on a dog's body in his last film, "Big Trouble."

"I spent five hours with her wearing blue screen dots that you've got to wear and all that, doing a combination of barking out barks and barking out words like 'Arugula! Arugula!' And she was great, she was fantastic and was a real trooper. I can't wait to do another movie with her where she's not a dog or an alien," he said.

It's funny how "in control" Michael wants 2 b...reminds me of someone else we all know and love... biggrin

MJ asked Paul McCartney all those questions about publishing and the music industry before he bent poor Macca over and had his way with him. Look out, Sonnenfeld, MJ wants yo job...and when he can't get it, watch for MJ to draw the race card again...

Didn't MJ want a bigger part in that film? I saw MIB2 and he begging in that role, but I heard off screen Mr. "Scary Man" wanted a bigger role.

'cuz, she is very powerful in Hollywood. She has a very big fanbase.

I don't think she is a horrible actor...I think she picks the wrong scripts...Evita was incredible.

A few years ago,Madonna said "I've done 12 movies, half of them have been good, half of them have been shit. But honestly,I can think of Academy-Award winning actors and actresses who've done more shit movies than I have"smile

All kidding aside,I think Madonna is a good actress. She just needs the right role. She should accept smaller, supporting roles instead of trying to "carry" an entire movie herself.Remember her roles in successful films like "Desperately Seeking Susan","Dick Tracy" and "A League of Their Own"? She was great in those movies. As for her upcoming "Swept Away" film, who knows? It will probably be a flop but I'll still go see it...lol..

I think Cher is a Far Better Actress than Madonna IMHO.Desperately Seeking Susan was Aight for the time period IMHO. Dick Tracy hard to get into it for me anymore.A League of there Own was also Important for Geana Davis&Tom Hanks IMHO among others in there. My Favorite Madonna Film is "Truth or Dare".
