INXS may be currently on tour in support of a new album, Switch.
However, the band's real lead singer isn't on this tour. Perhaps he is watching over the band from heaven. Perhaps he isn't. However, like I said, either way he isn't behind the mic.

I did not personally discover INXS until 1999 or 2000. (Not sure on the exact year, but needless to say, Michael Hutchence was already gone.) From the DVDs and photos, He always struck me as as a great front-man. He had the right blend of talent and style. I personally think the man wrote some very powerful lyrics in his time on this earth.

While I am glad Rock Star: INXS gave INXS a good foundation and a new singer to tour with, and record music with again, I really hope people don't forget Michael Hutchence in the long run. I also hope they don't think of him like a James Bond or Batman actor. Just one of many. I believe his legacy should not be fucked with.

I suppose I just would love to hear thoughts from other Michael Hutchence fans.

is his solo album good?

There are several copies on the discounts bins here (like a thousand!!!)

Yes! If you like INXS the tracks... "Fear," "Straight Line" and "Get On The Inside" will be songs you will probably dig. Personally, I would put the album on my all time favorite albums list. Yes, the opening 2 tracks are kind of morbid, however once you get past them, you will discover a great album, and also learn to appreciate even the morbid songs.

INXS is dead without this man as lead singer. You can replace somepeople but you can't replace him. He was good, very good. One of my favorite groups of all time with him only!!

In terms of front men for 80s bands, no one except Bono and Prince can touch him. I wish I had seem him live just once, but I didn't really start going to shows until '97; I would've seen INXS for sure on their planned tour for Elegantly Wasted, but that world tour never happened when Michael died at the end of that year.

It's funny how someone that talented could be so insecure. I remember reading about Bono and Michael comparing their voices. Michael wished his was more emotive like Bono's but Bono loved how Michael's voice could fill out all of the registers. The grass is always greener on the other side.

Michael had one of the finest voices in rock and roll.

I really liked his Max Q project from 1989.

I own his solo CD, I haven't heard it in a long time.

I remember there were a few good tracks on it, not as strong as the INXS material.

I've been a big INXS fan since the mid 80's, however I just can't bring my self to buy the new album with JD Fortune.

INXS will never be the same again.

another person who's career has been amped up due to his death (just like aliyah and selena)...

i remember inxs having one huge album and one hit that followed that w/ suicide blonde..but they kinda fell off the face of the earth until dude died...


but now, they are considered peers of u2 and prince...what am i missing?

I wouldn't put the band up with U2 or Prince, but Michael Hutchence as a frontman,(voice mixed with charisma and ability to hold an audience in his hand) I would.

I miss Michael sooo much.

My memories go back a while to Original Sin and I Sent A Message, back when I was a teenager. Like many other people though,my favorite INXS track is Need You Tonight which has been a permanent fixture on my iPod.

I see zero point in replacing him. Nobody can sing those songs like Michael did.
