My first exposure to Joni Mitchell was by a musically blessed friend of mine in college. He gave me a copy of "chalk mark in a rainstorm" by joni mitchell.I used to never really listen to female singers. I assumed that I couldn't relate so,there must be no point.(How wrong was I??) He reminded me that usually I was very open minded about ideas,cultures,msuic,etc.and that I shouldn't have a closed mind about women in music. He was absolutely correct and I listened to that cd and it was incredible!I couldn't believe I had been asleep. What a great pop record!!Joni's voice was calming and pretty,her lyrics were caring and smart...a really easy set to enjoy. Well,I frequently revisit this cd and the other day "tea leaf prophecy(beat of black wings" really struck me.I think it's beautiful.It's just a perfect pop song without being like, a "pop song" as we know it today.

"The Beat of Black Wings" is my favorite on that album!! and "Tea Leaf Prophecy" (w/ Wendy and Lisa) is kool, too!!

It's funny, Janet Jackson once said that her brother Randy turned her onto Joni, and added that "Beat of Black Wings" was her favorite, too.....

I love Joni. Her "Turbulent Indigo" CD is incredible.
