I see what you mean about both versions making one hell of a whole. If the "bounce" of the rehersal version was mixed with the broodiness(is that a word?) of the demo the song would be on a whole 'nother level. Maybe thats why disc two of sketches is so hard for me to listen to. I've always felt that what I'mnot hearing is so integral to me actually "getting " the songs.
