Finess, you got it wrong, Brown did invent funk, but that was before that had a name for it. Clinton did name it, but naming something is no big deal.
Clinton does write the songs, and that is what is important. Songs always come first. Put that on your wall at home. Emerson, Lake And Palmer come to mind, when we talk about musicians who cannot write actual songs to save their lives. All you others say Hell Yea!!

Stuff like this---Clinton Honored in Philadephia
The Philadelphia Clef Club was pack. Black Entertainment & Music Association (BEMA)presented a "LIVE" TV taping interviewing George, ("Funkadelic"), Clinton. What an educational and informative event. The special program was to educate our youth and what an education we all in attendance received. Unsure of date when it's going to air on television. George was also honored by Philadelphia Council. As of today April 15th 2006, it was made George Clinton Day in the City Of Philadelphia. What a celebtration, what a very special day. Bunny Sigler sang "Somebody Loves You Baby" playing behind himself on the piano. He wrote this hit song for Patti Labelle. Clinton sang along showing appreciation and support. This was not planned. As a matter of fact, Bunny kind of foregot the words and he wrote the song. These sort of things often happens with writers of songs and recording artist that has recorded so many, many hits and recordings. Especially when being called out of the audience and ask to come up on stage to sing and perform cold unexpectedly and unrehearsed. It was all done in fun and plenty fun-time, filled with lots of laughter is what we all had. Plus, another page in Phila. music history was created and all in attendance were witnesses. The professional Bunny is, he sound very, very good and the audience really enjoyed him. Everyone in Philly that's envoled in the music industry knowing anything about (TSOP) recordings, has heard of or know of Bunny Sigler. It was good seeing many S/D members in the house such as Weldon McDougle 111, Bobby Eli, Vonnie and many people who usernames: I do not know of yet. I even saw people from the R&B Foundation enjoying themselves and checking out the action. Many Philly local show biz folks were in the house to support this GALA amongst many George Clinton fans and music lovers. The film shown on George P Funk, Bootsy Collins, Fred Westley & The JB's, Mothership and etc. at the beginning of this eventuality was most enjoyable, knowelegable and extremely powerful. George Clinton will be returning to the city of Phila. to perform at The Mann Music Center this summer. What a very nice and successful gathering. George is as down to earth as they come.
