A Small Update from the Studio

The band re-convened this week in the Studio in London, picking up where they left off. They are still writing and working on new material, as well as finishing up some of the music they started in San Francisco.

They are hoping for a summer release and plan to work nearly every day until the album is finished.

That's a matter of opinion. I think "Astronaut" was a great album.

IMO,their "Pop Trash" CD in 2000 was pretty crappy.

The latest rumor is that the 1st single is due in May, with the album to follow in August!

I thought they did a good job on Astronaut. I got it in 5.1 surround sound, dualdisc version, and it sounds really nice.
Reunion albums usually don't fare well in the market place but as long as the music is good, then in my eyes it's a success.

I bought Astronaut for my wife, thinking it would be a home run. Talk about a strikeout!

Seriously, we both hate it and I just wanted my $ back. I wish Duran Duran would stop recording. Their dullness:hype ratio is staggering.

Roger Taylor update:

things have really been going great over the last few weeks , the new songs have ben going from strength to strength since returning to London in January. We now have around 15 pieces of music that we are working up to full potential with producer Michael Patterson, we will hone these down to 12 songs for the album.


The record will be in some ways a homage to our roots as a band, more direct and a return to our dance and 'new wave' origins - and the fact that we have been touring as a five piece band again over the last 3 years has made the whole process a more natural and inspiring experience.

It has brought us all to something that feels like a very positive and special moment in time.

We are already on the final stages of recording and hope to be mixing by April. If all goes to plan, this will followed by a first record at radio by early summer...so hang in there and we'll see you all soon!

Been awhile since I popped in over here...Glad to see the excitement for the new album already brewing (ignores nay sayers) I'm also eagerly awaiting a new tour as well.
