I'm surprised that Davideye didn't point out two Donna Summer songs that I have heard could have been about AIDs.

Both are from her 1987 flop, although it was a nice well rounded lite R&B pop album, titled "All Systems Go". The first song is the silly but perhaps preachy "Love Shock", a guilty pleasure piece of over producded eighties pop which talks seems to be about how falling in love is like a shock to the system but there are hints that the song is about AIDs. Another possiblty is the emotional power ballad "Voices Crying Out", which seems to be a song that speaks for those that are dying and calling out in the night.... Davideye, am I way off?

On a Donna Summer message board,I once argued that her 1987 song "Love Shock" should have been a single.Someone mentioned that it would have been a controversial choice for a single, because of the line "You've been infected by a non-stop electronic girl".I didn't know that it could be interpreted the wrong way eek

"Waterfalls" by TLC? Or was that just the video. I don't think I ever payed atrtention to the lyrics.

nod One verse is about a boy who gets HIV from unprotected sex.

Little precious has a natural obsession
for temptation but he just can't see
She gives him lovin' that his body can't handle
but all he can say is, "baby, it's good to me"
One day he goes and takes a glimpse in the mirror
and he doesn't recognize his own face
His health is fading and he doesn't know why
Three letters took him to his final resting place
(y'all don't hear me)

Also "We Don't Have to Take our Clothes Off" by Jermaine Stewert was in response to AIDS. I laughed when I read that and thought."I guess he didn't follow his own advice". Why me say that? Because he had AIDS when he died. That is all.

Yeah, that's super funny. neutral

Cyndi Lauper has a song about a friend who died of AIDS (the name of the song currently escapes me (sorry).)

Reba McEntire (sp?) has one, too (again, can't recall its name.)

There’s a verse in TLC’s “Waterfalls” about HIV/AIDS (“three letters took him to his final resting place”)

“Streets Of Philadelphia” by Bruce Springsteen

Reba has songs about AIDS? Interesting topic for a country artist.

garth brooks had a song about being pro-gay rights

from the musical play and the movie RENT:

"one song glory" - roger sings about being hiv positive... very sad

http://www.stlyrics.com/l...gglory.htm

"will i" - the 'life support' group, a group meeting of people living with HIV/AIDS... extremely haunting

http://www.stlyrics.com/l.../willi.htm

"seasons of love"

http://www.stlyrics.com/l...oflove.htm

there are tons of other songs in the show that mention it, but arent about it at the core... let me know.

what aspect of it is your friend looking for related songs, and does she want happy , sad... what? i have tons more i can recommend, but it depends on the tone she is looking for.

I'm helping out a friend who is working on a lesson for teenagers about AIDS, in which she looks at the topic from different angles. She just asked me if I knew any songs about AIDS. I could only think of 'Sign of the times', in which there it is only mentioned. Any other ideas?

Tori Fixx :: Human Being (2003)

Tackles the AIDS/HIV issue, among other issues, from a gay black male's perspective. It's available at the iTunes Music Store from the album "Black.Out," which is also available on CDbaby.com

There's another great song by Tori too called...

Tori Fixx :: Take Care Of U (2001)

It's on his "ReFixx" CD which is available at CDbaby.com, but if you need this song ASAP, go with the "Human Being" choice that I listed at the start since it's available for download at the iTunes Music Store.

Let me know if you need any help.

Show Must Go On by Queen? I'm not sure but I've always taken that song to be about Freddie Mercury and HIV.

In K-Ci & Jojo's video for "Dont Rush", a woman, after a one night stand, finds out the she slept with is HIV-positive.

H-Town's "Jezebel" speaks on HIV alittle.

The R&B group Silk saids "Dont get down without protection..." in the chorus of "Love Session"

Ice Cube's "Look Who's Burnin" talks about STDs

There's a old rap compilation called "America Is Dying Slowly"

And one of the the remixes for TLC's "Creep" has a verse from Left Eye where she address HIV as a consequence of creepin around.

"This nigga Ike with the Iverson jersey, light-skinned with herpes
Fuckin sisters in Harlem, Brooklyn and D.C.
This is the problem cause he never tell 'em he got it
from lettin fags suck him off, Rikers Island in nine-three
Drives a Benz, hangs at all the parties, all the concerts
Backstage where the stars be, rockin they shirts
in bitches faces like clockwork - what's your name, where you from?
Chain blingin, thinkin girls everywhere is dumb
Takin pride in ruinin they lives
So they could never have babies, and they could never be wives
He never used a condom, give him head he got ya
Met the wrong bitch and now he dead from the monster AIDS
I contemplate, believin in karma
Those on top could just break, and won't be eatin tomorrow
I know some bitches who be sleepin on niggaz dreams, they leave
When that nigga blow, she the first bitch on her knees
Knowin dudes that's neglectin they seeds
Instead of takin care of 'em they spendin money on trees"
