FUNKADELIC appreciation thread I know that we have had appreciation threads for FUNKADELIC many times on here but I really cannot get over the dynamics of this group. I bought "Standing On The Verge Of Getting It On" and the "Funkadelic" album last year and I lucked out and went to a blowout sale at a store that was closing down and they had "One Nation Under A Groove." So I bought it and was FLOORED!
I just cant get over the HEAVY rock sound they had at the time. And on top of that, this group was VERY popular among the black community in the craze of the 70's disco/dance era. I can't imagine folk in the hood buying that album to dance to the title track, only to hear songs like "Maggot Brain" included on that album. By the way, "Maggot Brain" is SICKENING!!! I am WOWED by that. (the original album is on order..LOL) "Luncmeataphobia" and "Maggot Brain" are my 2 favs from the disc. That hard rock/FUNKY sound AMAZES me! Its a shame that Fukadelic doesnt get their props separate and apart from Parliament. Does anyone know if they've been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?

HELL YEAH!!!!!
Oh man..Funkadelic. I don't even know where to start! Under A Groove is absolutely essential! I kid you not, a day does not go by where I don't listen to a few cuts off that album... I like the PE Squad Doo Doo Chasers instrumental And MAGGOT BRAIN!? I get physically ILL. As far as RRHOF, I think they were inducted along with Parliament (I agree they should get their separate props)..here's a link: http://www.rockhall.com/h...asp?id=163 I share the love. I'm gonna go listen now... Think! It ain't illegal yet! [Edited 4/4/06 15:24pm]

Man I could go on forever about Funkadelic.
I've been recently buying all the remasters of Funkadelic on Westbound. So far I've Got Maggot Brain, American Eats it's Young, and Let's take it To the Stage. Free Your Mind is next then Standing on the Verge... Does anybody know if they fixed the "edit" of I'll Stay yet? Fantasy is reality in the world today. But I'll keep hangin in there, that is the only way.

I got into the whole P-thang through Parliament first, buying every album I could get my hands on... but I only worked my way through the Funkadelic catalouge afterwards... it took some time, but it was worth it. It's a trip!! Vanglorious... this is protected by the red, the black, and the green. With a key... sissy!

Man.....my musical life would not be the same with P-Funk baby. Hell, I may not have a musical life without these cats.
I always find it interesting how IMPORTANT Bootsy is to all of this. Bootsy went from James brown, to P-Funk, To being Solo, To Dee lite, to all these other forms of being. Damn Bootsy is the MAN as far as I am concerned. Talk about being underrated.....
