I love the Charlatans UK, Hammond organs rule!!

hmmm I've seen quite a few of these discussed FREQUENTLY! When "Be" came out, the Common threads were numerous. And we get MeShell and The Roots threads quite a bit. . .

just because you see the name dropped when they have a new album out it doesn't quite mean their music has been discussed...

and believe me compared to the ratio of Madonna, MJ, Mariah, Janet and general gossip threads, those artists definitely don't get talked about much... lol

O.K., but the title of the thread is "Artists that NO ONE DISCUSSES. . ." I've seen those artists I mentioned discussed more than just when an album drops. But I agree about the"discussion ratio. . " you mentioned.

Elvis Costello (I can't think of the last time he was mentioned....and yet I can't think of a good topic to start either)

Here's one:

But it wasn't as popular as the one about how beautiful Michael still is.

Badly Drawn Boy, someone you hear nothing about in the US, save for a recent appearance in a Target commercial. Writing brilliant songs & crafting beautifully arranged albums. Not the best singer, though.

Big Star, whose singer Alex Chilton inspired another famous Minnesota band:

The Replacements--along with Big Star, the "next big thing" that never was.

The Grateful Dead--a huge band that Prince fans don't seem to like.

I was seventeen, you were working for
Matthew and Son,
(The) Beatles met the Queen, and I wrote
I'm gonna get me a gun, yeah, yeah
It was like a dream in the star machine,
oh, no, izitso, izitso?
I never wanted to be a star, I never wanted
to travel far
I only wanted a little bit of love
So I could put a little love in my heart
I never wanted to be la-de-da, go to parties
'avec le bourgeois'
I only wanted to sing my song well,
So I could ring a small bell in your heart
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

I was on the road, sleeping between lorry
lights, oh no
Stone-drunk and cold, heading into a bad
night, yeah, yeah
Just another bean in the star machine, hi ho,
here I go, here I go

I never wanted to be a star buy my mum a
Ferrari car
I only wanted to run my own race,
So I could win a small place in your heart
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Nature found a way, it picked me up off the
dark side, yeah, yeah
Showed me another day, it made me sing
'I think I see the light'
Not another bean in the star machine, oh no,
this time I won't go
I never wanted to be a star, I never wanted to travel far
I only wanted a little bit of love
So I could put a little love in my heart.

I haven't seen anyone mentioning Billy Joel.
Man he is great.
My favourite after Prince.
Does anyone else around here like him?

That's where you got your name, huh?

I went through a big anti-Billy phase, but now I'm a musician & I have had to remind some snobby fellow musicians that "Billy Joel has more good songs than you & I combined!"
