Should all artist have instrumental cd option?

There are several artist that I would pay money for to get just the instrumental version of their cd. I think this should be the wave of the future.
Option 1: regular cd
option 2: instrumental only
Option 3: both

new revenue stream.....

Yeah Chronic 2 seemed to set off the trend in the mainstream record stores but check it. All of these have full instrumental albums available:

Aceyalone & RJD2 - Magnificent City
Alchemist - 1st Infantry
AZ - A.W.O.L. Version 1.5
Beastie Boys - Hello Nasty
Common - Be (I saw this on official vinyl)
Dr. Octagon - Dr. Octagonecologyst
Handsome Boy Modeling School - White People
Gang Starr - The Ownerz
Quasimoto - The Unseen

Who else? MF Doom has been releasing damn near every beat he ever had, way back to the KMD days.

Let's see... I have a CD of Boogie Down Productions Criminal Minded with the instrumentals on the end of it.

And I mean, there's more than just those.

I should mention, with the exception of Common's Be, all those instrumental albums are available on the CD format. nod

That would be great, but probably wont happen on a wide scale!

The trend is definitely on the uprise though, but I wouldn't expect to see this in any other genres besides rap.

I agree. Easy cash-in. They release remix albums compiled of previously released (DJ vinyl) remixes. This would be the same thing.

You know that AZ AWOL instrumental CD includes the acapellas separately too! eek

Now that's like a whole new genre unto itself. Instrumentals to raps that haven't been written yet.

cool
