Howard Jones

I've been listening to a few Cds this week and Howard "Best Of" is among them. He's a great songwriter...so postive. Great musicain as well. He was, dare I say, one of the most gifted artists to come out of the eighties. His "Best Of" is full of strong songs...even the songs that weren't smashes here. I heard his new album is very good, too. Let's start a discussion.

So far I only have "The Best Of...", the American release although there is a good import collection that I think is called "Greatest Hits", which has his newest hit which I haven't heard.

Sounds good. I forgot that before buying "Best Of..." I had "Preform 2001". It's updated verisons of his hits with some new songs. Really good.

biggrin It's called "Hide and Seek", and I agree, that Live Aid version is Excellent!! It sounds much better in that acoustic piano arrangement than it does on the Heavily synthesized album version (from "Human's Lib")...

I posted a thread about Howard a month or so ago, very underrated artist, to this day is doing excellent work. He has some new stuff coming this year also, another Piano Solos CD through his website also a DVD release which showcases different ways that Howard has toured (acoustic, electric, full band, no band) and that DVD is supposed to be released in the USA also on the KOCH label in later May and is filled with 4 hours worth of music. His latest CD is actually not that new though it came out in the USA last year it was about a year before,"Revolution of the Heart" is a great CD, more on the electronic side, though RESPECTED is just about one of his best songs ever.

I think I remember that thread. Yeah, I just saw that DVD on Amazon. I might check that out. I remember seeing "Revolution" at a Barnes and Noble last year. I was kind of upset because I didn't think my student teaching was going well and I saw the CD. Probably should have bought it...Might have cheered me up. I'll have to get that one sooner or later.

I saw him live in high school on the Things Can Only Get Better tour, he played the handheld keyboard like a guitar. It was cool. His band was different, drummer stood up like the video. I like alot of his songs, he had a good sense of melody.
