The SAD death of ROTH

They really fucked him up. Stripped him of his unique identity.

He had the only decent radio show of its kind and they all but lubed him out.

Made him robotic and stale.

It's like hiring Prince to play air guitar.

I totally agree with you. He was really different.

They basically ripped the soul out of him.

They told him

NO MORE BLACK MUSIC
NO MORE ANIMAL
NO MORE B YOUNG
NO MORE ODD GUESTS
NO MORE GREAT MUSIC

As soon as he finds another offer he should grab it or he'll get sick staying there.

I tried listening to him once and it was like a chore (and not just because it took forever to download on my slow ass computer). He just kept trying to read a story but kept going off track and went right back to the begining of the story....And why the music in the background. I don't mind his musical choices, but all the time in the background...It's a distraction! I would give him a chance if he was on here....Rover is a lame ass Howard wannabe who thinks he's bad ass.

But Sirusly, origmnd, are you a Stern fan that won't get Sirius? I was lucky to get a radio reciever (that I could put in the car and might soon) along with a boombox for only $50 after a rebate and standing out in the cold for hours....It's totally worth more (and I'm sure the more expensive models are worth it because of their features like recording).

???

Youre way off. I get Stern-on-demand and see some shows on cable. I dont care enough to get Sirius. Whats that got to do with Roth?

He's in no way a Stern wanna be. Shows are totally different. Roth was different than any radio show so I found it more interesting than most shows--however disjointed it appeared to be.

I heard Stern interview Roth before awhile ago, and Roth is a talker, and sometimes funny. But his radio show needed work, and I thought Howard had some good advice.. Talk about Van Halen and what being a rock star was like. I didn't hear Roth getting into his real life enough, and I'm sure he could talk about his rock stories forever, he must have quite a few.. He is a legend, but maybe morning radio full time isn't his calling.

I guess I am way off. No, I don't think that Dave is like Stern and good for him being original. I just assumed that you were a Stern fan that hasn't switched over...You have On-Demand but won't get Sirius?

This just in from Yahoo news...

Roth Struggles After Replacing Stern

NEW YORK - David Lee Roth says he won't jump from his gig as a morning radio host. Roth, who replaced shock jock Howard Stern on seven stations in January, has struggled in making the move from rock star to radio host. But during his Friday show, the former Van Halen frontman vowed to stick with it — although he acknowledged that problems continue.

"I'm going to give it a try," Roth told his audience. "I've invested too much in this show not to."

Roth's show underwent drastic changes last week, with the removal of his three on-air sidekicks and the ditching of background music. According to Roth, he received four letters in five days from CBS Radio officials demanding "extensive changes" in his four-hour show.

The rocker complained that CBS executives had failed to offer him enough support when the show first made its debut.

"I didn't know what I was doing," Roth said. "I asked for rehearsal, and they didn't give it to me."

Failure to comply meant "termination or disciplinary action," said Roth, whose show airs in New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Dallas and West Palm Beach, Fla.
