eek

confuse It's advertised here as a COLIN HAY WITH THOMAS DOLBY show.

Not taking any chances. Bought 2 tickets anyway ($20).

He had a song on the Garden State soundtrack. And then they had him on Scrubs doin cameos for like a whole epsiode. I'd go see him.

Far as Dolby, I never heard anything but Science. Did he ever have another stateside single?

yeah he had another single off of the AEMB cd, i believe it was Airhead. Personally, i think it's the weakest song off that album, i can't believe he wasn't more successful here in the states. if you're not hip to any of his stuff and you like ol' school electronica go pick up his first album with Science and The Flat Earth ep, if you can find it. He also was a sought out producer during the 80's, he even did a couple of tracks for Whodini. nod

OK, here's the real deal.

The performance on 4/12 is with Colin Hay at HOB Anaheim.
However there's a solo Thomas Dolby performance at The Key Club on 4/13.

I've switched my ticket order accordingly. cool

Ok cuz I was fence-sittin' on that Colin Hay co-opener (MAW makes the most boring music imaginable), but TD's no marathon performer. Who's gonna fill the undercard?

Actually it's kinda moot. Both are mid-week dates and I work an overnight shift. I've done all-nighters before, but I can't say TD is worthy. You'lll have to update me.

so Thomas is doing the one man band thing, huh? no wonder the tickets are so cheap. lol

i guess i can't complain, i was looking foward to seeing him with the lost toy people, though. i've read an interview where Thomas said he stopped touring 'cuz he couldn't get the sound right live. he seems really meticulous about his music, so maybe that's why he's doing the solo thing now. i know Zappa was the same way towards the end of his life, he said he couldn't play with people anymore. sad

Does anyone know if the Randy Jackson playing bass on AEMB is the same one from American Idol, this has been bugging me for some time now. neutral

He looks great for his age. More healthy than when he came out. He was all pesky lookin and quirky before.
Now he looks like he could take and/or give a punch.

Yuck. Count me out I'm NOT going to sit for electronic drums and synthi-horns. barf

I hate myself for knowing this, but RJ from AI was also the bass player in a later version of Journey.

i'm a fan of electronica so i think i'll still appreciate it. i'm sure this how he recorded his first album, which i'm a huge fan of.

LMAO, about RJ!!! disbelief

i will say he laid it down on the AEMB album, though. lol

Have you ever checked out the stuff he did with Prefab Sprout? the first time I heard Desire As, I thought it was an unreleased Thomas Dolby tune...
