what do you think of Pangea, btw? I love Agartha (heard it years before Pangea), but when I got that one, I found myself liking it a bit more than Agharta. But anyway, those 2 albums belong together.

On the other hand, Pangea has no "Theme From Jack Johnson". Hm, I guess I have to put this stuff on my Zen.

If only the sound was better!

I am not exactly a jazz lover, but the last jazz album i really enjoyed (was it jazz even? or just great music) is Aura by Miles Davis, some great music, and his soloing on Electric Red is souldefining

Ottensen

uummm, let's see:

I am re-visiting Manhattan Tranfer's VOCALESE-,

... particularly the songs "AIRGIN" from Sonny Rollins and "JOY SPRING" from Clifford Brown...I saw them perform these tunes live at every possible turn and their technical precision floors the hell out of me every time...

NICOLE YARLING- Live at the Manchester Craftsman's Guild

...Nicole Yarling is a stunning jazz and blues artist from S. Florida via New York. She's also an amazing violinist, and incorporates her instrumental virtuosity into much of her concerts, in both jazz covers and original compositions, and giving a dynamic live performance. I had the pleasure of seeing this show at the esteemed Guild, where she was making her debut as the protegé of jazz-blues legend Joe Williams; Williams (who as dapper and enchanting as ever) also appeared on this recording for two or three tunes, but sadly did not live to see the release of this cd, as he died shortly thereafter in the care of his loving wife (I believe he said he was going to their home in Nevada after the show)...in any event, I just remember this being a magical night watching a jazz great introducing a new powerhouse onto the scene...

and lastly...

Diane Reeves- THE CALLING -Celebrating Sarah Vaughan

no explanations needed...jut damned delicious to listen to wink !

One of the last Jazz albums that struck my mind was

Idris Muhammad - Power Of Soul.

It's from 1974, Grover Washington Jr. plays on the album, too. I think you should try it - great music.

I noticed that a lot of the stuff you all are listening too is old material. Anything new that is funky? I don't like Jazz but if it's funky I can get into it.

You should check out

- Erik Truffaz: "the Mask" + "The Dawn" (uhm, maybe you can try out the song Yuri's Choice and see if u like that stuff wink )

- the 1999 album "Charged" by Toshinori Kondo, Eraldo Bernocchi, Bill Laswell
(it's damn fine electronic jazz)

the Power of Soul album is indeed old, but I think it still sounds fresh and good. It's not traditional jazz or so...
