WHITNEY'S new album 9/17...Babyface quote "It's back to GOOSEBUMP time!"

Personally...I'm very excited to hear this album...I know Whit's had many issues latley and hopefully some have passed her by now...looks like she brought a fresh new energy to this album...first single "Whatcha Lookin At" addresses this...Bobby co-produced...hmmm...very curious to hear this!!!

...from MTV

Whitney Houston 'Back To Goose-Bump Time' On New LP

Aside from the ice grill she gives the camera in Murder Inc.'s "Down 4 U" video, Whitney Houston — the woman whom Irv Gotti calls the quintessential "down ass chick" — is giving people those old familiar chills, according to one of her collaborators.

"She's singing better than I've heard her sing in years," boasted Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds over the weekend at the Essence Music Festival in New Orleans. "Her voice is in tip-top shape and it's back to goose-bump time. When she's in the studio, I'm really excited about how she's going at it. She's going at it hard. She's very focused.

"There are some classic Whitney things and some things that have a pop flavor as well," added 'Face, who's writing and producing for the project. "The main thing I can say about her is that she is singing her butt off right now."

Irv Gotti, Rodney Jerkins, Platinum Status (IMX) and Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis have all come forth in the past several months and said that they, too, were producing on the album (see "Between Toilet Pranks, IMX Produce Music For Solange, Whitney, Mya," and "Jam And Lewis To Hit The Studio With TLC, Mariah, Whitney Houston"). Tweet has also said she's written a song for the LP.

Houston's spokesperson at Arista Records, who was unavailable for comment on Wednesday, previously divulged that the singer's next album should be out this fall (see "For The Record: Quick News On Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Whitney Houston ...").

Exactly what music makes the cut has yet to be seen, though Houston does have obvious favoritism toward one of the album's contributors: her husband, Bobby Brown.

Tuesday afternoon on New York radio station WBLS, on-air personality Wendy Williams played "Whatcha Lookin' At," a track Williams said Brown produced. A voice similar to his can also be heard singing some background parts and adlibbing.

"My following is real strong/ You got the heart to show the world what I do/ Now I'm turnin' the cameras back on you/ Same spotlights, the ones who gave me fame/ Tryin' to dirty up Whitney's name," Houston scoffs on the track.

She then laments about people who've been "messing with [her] reputation" and "concentration" and don't "even have no education" on the chorus, singing, "I feel your eyes on me/ You been telling lies on me."

I have always liked Whitney and I think she has one of the best voices out there, but the woman has some serious problems. Of course everyone is hyping her new cd because they want us to like it and embrace her again. I'm sure it will be good and she has loads of talent, but as I said, she has personal issues that she has to work out and she needs to stay away from the drugs. If she stays with Bobby, I fear that things will never change for the better for her.

I saw her on the recent VH-1 Divas special, singing a song with Mary J.Blige.She looks great! Last year,on the MJ Tribute concert, she looked like a skeleton. But now she has gained a few pounds and looks really healthy.I haven't heard any recent tales of weird,drug-induced behavior.I think she has finally got herself together.

Seriously, Whitney has made the occasional good single, but she's never made a good album.

Have we heard an angry Whitney yet? I don't think we have. My curiosity is piqued for this new single, even tho I find her work seriously lacking any feel. (great vocals, yes...feel? I'm not feeling it...)

Whit's been angry before...check out MY LOVE IS YOUR LOVE trax like "It's Not Right But It's Okay" and esp. "In My Business" which could very well be a camapion piece to the new trax as it deals with rumors about Whitney.

I think Her First Album was Good.after that Hit&Miss Albums&Her Music has Lacked Soul.Vocally Whitney can go to Church on you but the Material hasn't always matched Her Vocal Depths IMHO.glad to Hear She is coming back.

how about the time at a charity event where she was asked to sing, and Whitney told the person "did you buy a ticket? no? then there ain't no show." or the time a female fan was standing in the front row and the Divine Miss W says "your ticket says SEAT, doesn't it?" pompous bitch...

i think she's been away too long, and she's starting to suffer from negative publicity like MJ is. initial sales will be brisk, but overall it will be a disappointment. just a hunch.

I Agree.Clive Davis Pushed that Album hard.the trademark Cover of "Marlynn Mccoo "Saving all my Love for you".Clive knows how to make it work.but WHitney was Soulful there to Me.Hit&alot of Miss since IMHO.but you always notice Her Pipes no matter what material She is pushing out there.

Man it's time for the true SINGERS to step out again...I'm tired of the Ashanti's and Britney's of today...hell, I'm willing to listen to Monica...her voice is stronger than Ashantis. So I'm down for Whitney, Anita, Mariah or any other SINGER to step forward.

Any rumors of a "catfight" between Whitney and Mariah were put to rest when they collaborated on the 1998 song "When You Believe".I'd love to see them work together again someday, this time on a slammin' dance/club track.

Didn't Babyface(or one of MJ's collaborators) also say that Invincible was "back to "Thriller" time" or words to that effect??...and of course, Invicible was nowhere near the level of Thriller or Off The Wall...not even close...glowing praise from collaborators have rarely had much value to me, even when those collaborators were saying it about Prince...so Babyface's comments will illicit a loud and audible yawn from me...

Every Major Artist has Cheerleaders but it's for Various Reasons: one that Person could be Working on the Project as a Writer,Producer or Vocalist, two they are cool with the Label's Head Boss&are doing them a Favor, three they could be Friends&they just want to see there Friend do well.
