"Hand In My Pocket"
This album is sooooo 90s. I overdosed on Jagged Little Pill, so I don't really play it ever. Alanis fills the Canadian Content quota on radio here so I get enough of her there.

Loved the HELL outta this album...takes me back to when I first got a job at a wreka stow...and within a month this album came out a would not stop selling for like 2 years! I dont think there are many people I know who dont own this album. It really helped define that generation. Especially with women. After that...many women were finally getting substatial radio play, then came Lilith, then came ...um...Britney...um..where was I? Every minute of last night is on my face today....

Alanis is a case in what I HATE about the fickle record-buying public! This album is what, the 3rd largest-selling album in history, yet her other albums are considered flops in comparison because they only sold a fraction of "Jagged". And it's not like Alanis "experimented" with her style. People just completely dropped off. They're always looking for the next thing.

You bought this album in 4th grade? What did your parents think about the lyrics? Yep. Saved up my allowance money for a month and a half for it. My mom didn't care about the lyrics, as long as I didn't play it in the kitchen. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

This is so true...she had to re-intorduce "JLP" acoustic styled in Starbucks so people could buy her stuff again. &

Still one of my favorite albums. I don't know why people are so fickle. I guess people just buy because it's the hot album of the moment, not because they actually like the artist and what they do. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

I wasn't a very sheltered child. I knew the truth about sex and Santa and a lot of other things in what I now know is much earlier than most kids did. My mom was one of those parents that thought "protecting" a kid from sex, swearing, and other adult material did more harm than help. I agree with her. The kid's going to encounter that sort of thing at some point or another -why not introduce it in a way where the meaning and context can be discussed and explained truthfully and appropriately before they hear second-hand, garbled "knowledge" on the playground? I thought the lyrics were mostly smart, sometimes angry, and guaranteed to ruffle a few grown up feathers. After being force-fed such treacly, infantile slop like "Go Dog Go!" in school this was just up my alley. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"
