What do you think of Max Q?

What does everything think of "Max Q" the side project? If you have no idea what I am talking about, here is a clue: Michael Hutchence's side project.

I got the mp3s years ago from napster. Nothing remarkable is how I remember it. But I can't remember a single song, so take that for what it's worth.

I have the Max Q album as well as both the "Way Of The World" and "Sometimes" 12" singles. It was okay although I haven't listened to it in years. The remember the remixes on the 12" were kinda cool.

meh. Remember listening to it once. Like u2prnce said "nothing remarkable". I DO like "Way Of the World" though..
• Did you first think Prince was gay? •

Wendy: He’s a girl, for sure, but he’s not gay. He looked at me like a gay woman would look at another woman. Lisa: Totally. He’s like a fancy lesbian.

I love this album.

I think "Concrete" is one of the best songs Michael ever put out.

I love it too; I just found a vinyl rip of the 12 inch version of "Way of the World." The quality isn't the best, but it's an interesting mix of the song.

It is quotes like these that make me really want to get into this album. Seeing as I love lots of his INXS songs, and his solo album, "Michael Hutchence" is one of my all time favorite albums.

You must like "Slide Away" then. I felt that was such a magical way for Bono to say goodbye to his friend--by singing with Michael on a song that sounds like a goodbye letter.

Actually, now that I think about it more--it sounds like a suicide note from Michael, with Bono arguing against it. sad His death was a very difficult thing for me to get over since I suffer from depression, too. But sometimes, even if you have friends, you can feel all alone in the world.

That is so true. Andrew Farris (of INXS) once said something in regards to Michael's death that is very chilling but true. If you want I can find the exact quote later, but it is totally like what you said. He basically said something like, No matter how well you know someone, no matter how good of friends you are, they can always have demons, troubles or sides to their personality that you may not see.

I read this book on Michael a few years ago. The title makes it sound like a muckraking book, but it's really just a run through on his entire life and how he ended it. From reading it, it seemed like the last 5 years of Michael's life(his brain injury from a bike accident which led to him losing his sense of taste and may have directly led to his depression, coinciding with INXS' commercial decline) are what did him in. He was also on anti-depressants and mixing those with illegal drugs(I think coke and maybe some others) were a lethal combo. I don't think Paula was a positive influence, either. R.I.P. Michael.

I also want to read the official autobiography(although that's not an entirely accurate term since Michael didn't help write it). I skimmed through the later stuff from the early 90s on. The remaining band members are pretty damn honest, although some of the comments from other members in their team(producers, etc) are pretty 'out there'. They were under the impression that INXS were on par with U2, and that they didn't like Bono and Michael hanging out because they thought Bono would take Michael's ideas and use them for U2. As much as I love INXS, that is just laughable. U2 was/is a far better band and much more experimental than INXS ever was.

Between 87 and 93, I think they were on a par. Much as I love both bands, I don't think U2 are a clear winner.

U2 were more experimental, but INXS simply rocked better!

The time in which they are saying U2/Bono stole ideas is the early 90s. Basically, some of the non-band members say INXS influenced ZooTV and Zooropa. Sorry, but no.

I always kind of would bitch and say that INXS were copied by U2. Maybe not songwriting wise, but style wise perhaps. Now before you guys write me off as lame-o...let me show you what I mean.

Check this pic of Michael in 97 before his death:

Look like anyone's style recently? Incase you have no idea who I mean, check out this recent pic of Bono.

Case closed, Bono get your own "look."

Now moving away from the house of style argument of U2 (more specifically Bono copying Inxs/Michael Hutchence.)

I always thought Bono tried to copied Michael, however my friend pointed something out to me recently, who likes both bands also. I told him I thought U2 copied INXS and he said, "2bad U2 came first."

So maybe it is possible U2 did copy INXS in the late 90's. (It would not shock me. The song they did for the Batman Forever soundtrack, "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me" sounds very "INXS-ish." (If you doubt that, check out the INXS sang, from a few years earlier on the Beverly Hills Cop 3 Soundtrack, "Keep The Peace.")

I'm not gonna be mean here, but that look originated with Elvis(the Comeback Special) and then Jim Morrisson modified it a little. It is original for neither Bono nor Michael, but was a commentary on rock stardom when Bono did it for Zoo TV in '92.

Keep the Peace is an awful song--I have that soundtrack. Hold Me Thrill Me comes from songwriting sessions for Zooropa in '93, but didn't get released until '95. Beverly Hills Cop 3 came out in '94. Besides that, when you're on the top, you don't go around asking your friends who aren't doing that well for ideas.

Maybe you got me with the fashio thing. However, I still say "Hold Me Thrill Me" is "INXS-ish." "Keep The Peace" came out in 94 and "Hold Me, Thrill Me" came out in 95.

Indeed but I enjoy the way the thread has gone, I'd love to talk INXS and Hutch with someone like you who actually has spent time listening to the music and forming views on it for hours. As opposed to someone who says, "Yeah everything after the Kick album sucked."

Besides..I created the thread in the first place razz
