ANY MINISTRY/REVCO FANS HERE?

I just bought my tix for the the upcoming tour - Ministry and Al Jourgensen's "side project" Revolting Cocks - they'll be playing at House of Blues in LA later this spring.

I'm kind of excited - in the early 90s I was more into grunge stuff when industrial was spiraling upward (Minsitry, NIN, White Zombie etc.) and in recent years I've really come to appreciate this genre of electronic/rock thanks to a special friend of mine. Also, I like Jourgensen's anti-Bush stance and political activism.

Are there any other fans out there?

I didn't think Rev Co was a side project of AL's. I thought he just worked with them.

But anyhoo, Minisrty was cool for me up to Psalm 69. Never really heard anything after that...well Filth Pig, but that was awful IMHO. I do alway pick up their newest just to look at it, but never buy em. I dunno that whole angry sound isn't for me. Another thing I am not fond of is that they really don't pay any attn to Twitch and barely any to Land of Rape and Honey...which I thought were great and good directions to go in (they have disowned Twitch and With Sympathy).

In interviews - Al says that the first two albums were "sell-outs" and that he didn't come into his own until Land of Rape and Honey. shrug

I'm one of those rare few that have seen live in concert both the industrial Ministry and the 80s pop new wavers Ministry. Needless to say they were two completely different concerts with completely different audiences. "Stigmata" and "Work For Love" are not exactly in the same ballpark and they draw very different audiences. (By the way, for different reasons, both concerts were very, very good.)

But that's why I've always like Al. He may be a whacked out nutcase, but that's reflected in his music...you never know what to expect.

Totally. It's not knowing what to expect that makes him intriguing, IMO.
