I need a crash course on Kate Bush.More & more artists whom i love & respect really rate this woman ie.Prince,Outkast,Badu,Maxwell.Myself i admire her eccentricity & the fact she doesn`t play the corporate game & shuns the fickle media.However i`m unfamiliar with her music.I`ve decided 2 get into her at last as i`ve just heard her original version of `This woman`s work`& i cant believe how beautiful,fragile & haunting her voice is! Can anyone reccomend her `crowning glory`2 me please.

Get the songs "Cloudbusting" and "Wuthering Heights"...also the most recent single "King Of The Mountain" is a killer track.

I'd start from "The Kick Inside" and work my way through "Aerial". I don't think she has a bad album really. Well, "The Red Shoes" is kinda blah compared to her others,imo. It's not a bad album though. My favorite is "The Sensual World".....it's the album with This Woman's Work on it. The songs from SW are a little more emotional and personal.

Listen to Bjork for a week.

If you don't love Kate Bush, if only out of relief for your ears, call me.

the one thing about kate, is that she has put out so few albums, it isn't that difficult to get them all. and, while some are much better than others, there are no bad ones.
but if i were to recommend 1 cd, it would be "hound of love" from 1984. it is the greatest.
if you were to consider getting a few discs at once, i would recommend:
hounds of love
aerial (her latest, it is really very, very good)
red shoes
the dreaming (some find this "difficult" to like, it is one of my favorites)

I started with Hounds of Love and it absolutely blew me away. I think it's my favorite album in my whole collection. If you listen to that and can't get into it, then Kate's not for you. Hard to imagine though.

By the way: Where is Cloudbuster? Haven´t seen him posting here for a long time.

The Whole Story is a good compilation, its 20 years old so doesn't have anything from her last 3 albums but still cool.

Hounds of Love is essential for anyone who loves music.
