Never bought their album, but I love that song, too.

Sounds so great in a set next to some Skyy or One Way. cloud9

You'll never go wrong with a "Best of" comp, but if you want a vinyl rec, I'd go with Skyy Line (1982). It has "Call Me" on there, but there's some other goodies like "Let's Celebrate," "Girl In Blue," "When You Touch Me" and "Jam The Box."

Thanks for the recommendation. Is their vibe like electro/funk?

If you liked "Call Me," a lot of the songs on it are in the same vein. It has that early 80s "sophisti-funk" sound (as I like to call it)... similar to the output of Mtume, Midnight Star, Fantasy, Slave, etc.

Which kind of 80s, though: Synthy, rhythmic or [my favorite] dated/cheesy?

There is a DeBarge greatest hits compilation called "The Ultimate Collection". It has all the great DeBarge slow jams and also the 12 Inch version of "Rhythm Of The Night". The CD also has solo songs by El DeBarge, Bunny DeBarge, and Chico DeBarge. "Talk To Me" by Chico DeBarge is very synthy, remember the "More Prince Than Prince" thread? "Talk To Me" definately qualifies.

Also, El DeBarge had a synthy jam called "Real Love" from his 1989 album.

Yes , Orgers RosesRred and untoldstoree already mentioned it above your posting .
In a short time female-leadsinger Renee Diggs and her husband Ernesto Phillips sadly passed away sad
The loss of Ernesto struck her hard .
A friend of mine has met her in this period and noticed her enormous willpower , despite her situation .

Peace Renee & Ernesto .
