Forget D'angelo. Jodeci need to come back! Forget d'angelo, what happened to Jodeci? I loved the hugely satisfying "the show, the after party, the hotel". Thats one of the deepest rnb albums i have heard. It takes while to grip u, but when it does, its a classic.
That album is leaps ahead of anything d'angelo is capable of. Devante knows a good slowjam, and lil' things like the chord change on the second verse of "freak n you", makes u think devante really is one of the most gifted producers of the last 15 years. No doubt ya'll gonna hate now [Edited 3/14/06 15:26pm]

Like their first album, the second half is where the jams are at. Shame none of them got a single release. Shit like "sweaty" (featuring a young missy elliot) are jams. Dont sleep on them.

Martin Lawrence should join the group! He should? Thanx for the info missfee, on MTV base, trevor nelson is gonna interview them soon (next week i think). Considering many think of their first 3 albums as rnb classics (which they are), they got alot 2 live upto. One problem, kids dont know who jodeci are anymore.

No I sold the Voodoo album because I was out of money and I only listened to 3 songs it was a boring album. But Jodeci with their singles which were played the hell out, I wasnt really interested in hearing the rest. I had listened to their first album..my manager played it frequently ...it was ok but Straight Jacket Funk Affair

Its almost a guarantee u'd like the funky tracks. Also, the second half of their first album "forever my lady" is majorly uptempo and furious. I guess u ain't a newjacker LOL. But "diary of a mad band" uptempo's are alot more hiphop funky, if u know what i mean. No newjack uptempo on that album.

"diary of a mad band", on the uptempo's, was ahead of its time.

U reckon devante was talented? I found out he was beind timbaland, missy, genuine. Damn, he and r kelly re-invented the slowjam, for better or for worse. Timbaland and missy are on "diary of a mad band" and "the show, the after party....."

Yeah I think Devante was talented but his tracks aren't sticking with me as long as his offspring's. i loved genuine when he first appeared. Timbaland was leading the way for ages in the late 90's. Devante did some good trax for tupac, other then that? I know devante did some trax for mj's "invincble". Mj chose a producer called freez for a track called "break of dawn", which obviously made the album. Last time i saw freez on a production credit was for a bell biv devoe track (i think he did "ganster"?). That was kinda shocking freez was still around Anyway, hopefully the new album will surface this year, but i ain't gonna hold my breath though.

I was very surprised to hear singing going on. Loved Jodeci. I heard they were trying to come back.

I agree with PP4 about Jodeci's abundance of slow jams, and I also agree with thesexofit that "Diary..." is the lp that contains their best up-tempo stuff...which isn't saying much, really.
Their first LP had 3 good fast cuts ("My Phone", "Gotta Love", and "X's We Share), and their second LP had one ("Gimme All U Got"). I remember when they were upset that their label didn't hype up their second CD. In reality, that CD wasn't very radio friendly, except "My Heart Belongs To You". can't type edit [Edited 3/17/06 14:27pm] I'm sick and tired of the Prince fans being sick and tired of the Prince fans that are sick and tired!
