Smokey RObinson thoughts:

somehow Smokey Robinson to Me has been lost when talked about all the Great Albums that Stevie&Marvin made.so where does Smokey Rank with you overall as a Artist,Producer,Composer,Vocalist??? how will History treat Him?

Simile for simile
Metaphor for metaphor
Verse by verse
He remains the top lyricist
for r&b and certainly
has a songbook to compare to
Rodgers & Hammerstein, Cole Porter,
Lennon & McCartney and ever the Gershwins.

His falsetto is not quite the same,
but the words penned by Smokey
are timeless.

Good Morning All,

Smokey is one of the greatest R&B songwriters ever. And another reason why the 70's were so great. He made some great albums in the 70's. Don't sleep on his 70's releases.
WARM THOUGHTS was a great album too, it contained the big hit "Let Me Be The Clock" and another great smash "Heavy On Pride (Light On Love)". I remember coming from school in the 70's and my mom would be preparing dinner playing this album and Teddy Pendergrass's self titled solo debut album back to back constantly.

Dylan, back in the day, called Smokey America's greatest living poet. So there you have it.
