MP3.com -- What really happened and why?

Just wondering... was it such a crime for all these label-less songwriters to share their art?

Yes it was. MP3.com become overburdened by a flood of copyright infringement cases and reports, whether it was because of sampling or distributing copyrighted material through the website.

i used to have stuff on there.. it was basically just instrumentals with me doin all the instruments on a keyboard.. wasn't great stuff.. but I was only like 16 or 17..
