There was a cool profile of Steve Winwood on CBS Sunday Morning Show about a week and a half ago. He lives on this HUGE estate that he bought back when he was about 19 or 20. Said he bought it so that he and his musical mates could make all the noise they wanted. He has a studio within walking distance (a good walk) from the main quarters and he was working on some grooves with the guitar player who toured with him on his last tour. He's married with daughters.

He's really livin' the high life and still makin' music whenever he wants to and whatever he wants to record. Now, that's a cool way to live!

Yeah, i wouldn`t mind trading lol
I sometimes wonder what some of the one-hit-wonders are doing now (Not that Windwood is a one-hit-wonder). I saw a show on vh1, about the disco artists from the 70s, that woman who sang "More, more, more" is very rich, and has been able to live large on that one single (she did porn afterwards though...)

Maybe i should make a thread about this song... hmmm

damn! i missed it! altho i see that you might be able to get it online. i'm using "Different Light" as one of my alarm ring tones.

i saw him perform a couple of years ago in London with this new band and they are hot. S.W. still has those golden pipes and he can still jam!

I wonder what it would sound like if she sang the lead vocals...

Whitney Houston recorded it as a bonus track for the Japanese edition of "I`m your baby tonight",
and she did a GREAT job, she even cry out "oh, lord" and "my lord" about 20 times.

whoever sent me that clip, thanks...but it's so bad. gee..i belive in Whitney's ability to sing but she murdered that song. i do like the idea of using a choir and including the Moog bass part since S.W. is a big Moog fan.

Great song (Chaka's vocals help make it even more memorable). I like his other eighties hits as well but he doesn't seem to have any decent collections out there...or is it just me?
