Alien Ant Farm. Smooth Criminal was a hit, but I really loved The Movies. I think when Dryden gave himself a Crouching Tiger haircut, it all went to shit.

He got in a big car accident and fucked up his neck. That probably had something to do with it.

Oh no. Are you serious? That's horrible. Here I am thinkin it was somethin shallow. That's terrible.

Daniel Bedingfield did the same thing. That's when his sister decided to start recordin. These Words, from what I understand, is written to him.

First of, very few bands now days can claim 2 b original. As for AC/DC
GNR drivel, u clearly have no taste as those were great bands. Buckcherry
came along at a time of rap metal or nu metal and it was great 2 hear a
band bringing it all back and doing something no one else was doing. Their debut
is a great album, what about Crushed, Dead again, check your head, dirty mind,
all fantastic songs. In the UK the NME had a spread saying they were the "next
big boys of rock...testosterone pumping, beer drinking, snorting, shagging rock
Gods". Better management, better timing and the band managing 2 keep itself together would have bode a better future for them. Their comeback single Crazy bitch, despite its lyrics is starting 2 catch on 2 U.S radio I see...

Off the top of my head, I wish Camp Lo had pumped out at least one or two more albums.

wait, what?

i can understand challenging deee-lite (even though i love them, nd think they do belong in here) but ROCKWELL over dee-lite???

the only reason he even had his one hit to begin with was michael jackson's awesome backing vocals on that song. take those away, and that song is utter shite.

I was joking kiddo.

ever heard their final album, "dewdrops in the garden"? if not, you can't even hold your weight in this discussion. get back with me when you've heard it. it's freakin' brilliant.

Meh,.. I've heard the first two albums. They were okay. But nothing was happening musically that could make me consider them a "good" band. I'll spot you that the last album was good, but I think in order for me to consider a band "good" that adjective needs to be spread out over a band's work consistently. As for questioning whether or not I have the weight to be in this discussion,.....if you say so.

and of COURSE martha wash blows kier kirby out of the water. that's like saying aretha franklin blows annie lennox out of the water or that sly stone in his heyday blows prince out of the water. martha wash started out as one of sylvester's back-up singers. she's a legend. i'm sure kier was greatly influenced by her.

No it's not. You are the one who said that C+C was "crap" in comparison to DL. To voice my disagreement with that statement, I pointed out that C+C's main vocalist could be considered a better vocalist than Kier. I also pointed out that one of C+C producers, David Cole, was a highly sought after and talented songwriter. They couldn't have been entirely "crap."

There are several bands that are releasing music today that I hold as original. Gimme a break with that "nothing's new under the sun" speech.

If you say so. Buckcherry wasn't the only hard rock band at the time of their debut and I would hardly say that their 80s glam/heavy metal retreads were "great." What is it about those songs that makes you think they're musical manna from heaven? Obviously I've a different conception of what "good" and "great" mean to me than some of you. Buckcherry was a "fun" listen but "great?" I dunno...

In the UK the NME had a spread saying they were the "next

To me, that's a fun listen. After I've weeded through the style, the image and promotion, I'm left with mediocre songs. Attitude only gets you a few spins on my record player. You gotta have substance in order for me to think you're great or good. And I think NME's a joke. In fact, sometimes, I think the entire UK musical press is a joke.

good performers have worked with less-than-stellar producers. martha wash is legendary. and her treatment by C+C and the record label is almost as legendary, and not in a good way. i don't know enough about david cole's career to judge him as an artist, but i know i hated C+C music factory. shrug

Yeah, and if she wasn't more concerned with partaking of that substance, we'd probably have a Kier solo disc. A friend of mine who worked in a wrecka stow was friends with her. He shot video for her at Wigstock. Said she was working on a solo disc, but never got her shit together.

Whatever. Dee-Lite is/was cool. Saw them at Toad's Place during the "Dewdrops" tour. The same friend brought me backstage to meet her after the show. She signed a "Dewdrops" flat for me. The room reeked of weed. She was MAD cute in person.

Marsha Wash's treatment by the label is based upon sales and discrimination as the obese are the most discriminated group in this country. But that kind of mindset is rampant in the industry. Believe me, if Beyonce looked like Marsha Wash,....it'd be a whole 'nother story; she'd be dating me instead of Jay Z.

I guess you should find out about David Cole as I should find out about DL's last record: we both think of each as "good."

Prince & the Revolution -- their demise really broke my heart, epecially after that stellar Parade.

The Sundays -- I discovered them when "Summertime" was getting spun by MTV on the regular, and they were doing spots on Letterman and such.

The Paula Cole Band -- Momma Paula just needs to come back, for real. Her vocal chops and the stylings of the other two musicians in that band made her third album a treat to hear.

You couldn't be anymore wrong if you tried. Buckcherry used the same big, polished hard blue-rock musical template replete with the screeching vocals and big hooks that AC/DC used.

Heavy influence from AC/DC and GNR. Plus, Steve Jones produced their first album, so maybe some Sex Pistols, too.
