Eddie Van Halen & Chick from One Day at a Time Split

Well, they lasted more than 7 times as long as Prince & Mayte.

Never. He's currently on tour with David Lee Roth. Figures a Prince fan would prefer Sissy Haggar.

Oh, & I imagine their 11 year old son cares.

Wow,they've been together since the early 80s,I believe.

Does anyone know the status of Van Halen (the band) these days? Are they still recording? When will David Lee Roth ever come back?

Sissy Hagar over David Lee Roth.

Well in all honesty, it kinda sucks to choose between both of them now.
Knew bout that tour..oh lawd.

I just wonder...Is Gary Cherone gonna be thier opening act? lol

The chick from One Day at a Time is named Valerie Bertinelli. She did all of those horrible Lifetime movies where she was either crazy or had to run from people all of the time...

Roth belongs back in VH...Dave or the grave, as they say.

Saw the opening night of Roth/Hagar. not a bad show, i'm going again in Buffalo. supposedly they considered getting Cherone to open. i'm glad he didn't.

swear I Heard from a Source they Left Warners or something along those lines? after there Last Album they would be better off gone from there.there 2nd video they Released from that Album was Internet only.they don't have a Lead-Singer unless Eddie's does lead again like He did on the last Album? if they had have gone about Business the Right Way they would matter in this COuntry along the lines of U2 I believe.because Eddie Van Halen was Huge&Diamond Dave fit like a glove.they truly blew it in 96 at the MTV Video Awards Show.had Dave on stage&everybody was Hyped but there Exchange backstage forever wrecked something that was gonna be Huge IMHO.

yup, they left WB. they also don't have a tour manager. they recently changed lawyers, and the new team has had Eddie on a copyright binge. VH wants fan sites to register with them in order to use certain trademarked images (logos, the red and white "Frankenstein" paint job design, and the number "5150") and that hasn't gone over well with fans, either. whether any of this had to do with an impending divorce, no one knows. the band's webmaster has become an unofficial spokesperson, and he takes a lot of shit on VH fan sites about the lack of communication from the band.

as for the 96 VMA fiasco, Dave was only brought back in to strengthen sales of the Greatest Hits disc. they already had Gary Cherone hired to be the next singer, but supposedly led Dave to believe he was coming back full-time. is it too late? would a Roth-led VH sell? i dunno. but if Ed ends up giving Val "half," i can't think of any better way to pump up the bank account.

I read it on some online VH site last week. Eddie is cancer free though so that is some good news. Michael Anthony is playing with Sammy Hagar and DLR on their tour (well guesting now and then in Sammys set). I doubt whether Eddie is gonna like that. It's all going downhill.

well, the way stuff with VH has gone over the years, i'd say "depending who you believe," since both Dave and Sam said they were fired, and Ed said they both walked. first one who gets to the media wins, right?

either way, with the WB split, their webmaster said it wasn't reported because it was not "newsworthy."

What a way to be civil and rational that you are thankful to others for being to you when debating. I guess you only care for people to be kind to you eh? Hypocrite.

i'm a Prince fan and i prefer DLR in VH...

any classic Van Halen and/or DLR fans, check out www.dlrarmy.com , they've got two of Dave's shows from this tour for download, opening night in Cleveland, and a couple weeks ago at the Gorge in Washington state. you've got to join the forums to download them. the forums are just as entertaining as the ones here, especially when some yutz comes in spouting pro-Sammy Hagar rhetoric. those guys love to beat up on Sammy lovers...

That's a good point, but I have a feeling that VH would never leave Warner Brothers. Not at this point anyway. And these days it's harder to be in good standing with your record company because they have a what have you done for me lately attitude more than ever now. And since VH have done nothing lately, and their last album with Cherone about 4 years ago was a big flop, I think they cut them loose. from what I'm told it was the lowest selling album of thier career even though it went gold. What I REALLY want to know is why Cherone left. The way the rest of the members of VH were talking it's like it was a marriage made in heaven.

the Cherone split is "depends who you ask" too. i've seen stuff that says Cherone wanted out because he didn't feel comfortable in the band, and also that WB wanted Cherone out and VH to get Roth or Hagar back, or they could be released from their contract. the songs on VH3 were a mixed bag, but it sounded as Cherone was singing out of his range and almost into Hagar territory. i didn't care much for Extreme either, and i didn't like him in VH.

VH3 was just too ambitious. The production destroyed what wouldve been a really decent VH album, well better than Balance thats for sure. I have some tour boots from the VH3 era and ironically they sounded better than ever, better than anything they did with Hagar or DLR.

From MelodicRock.com...

"SAMMY CLAIMS VAN HALEN ARE DONE:
Blabbermouth.net have an interesting set of quotes from Sammy Hagar online:
Former Van Halen frontman Sammy Hagar revealed several interesting items about Van Halen's comeback plans during a recent interview with reporter Patrick Berkery of the Philadelphia Inquirer. Among the revelations that are due to be detailed in the article which is set to be published on August 16th are the following:
Van Halen is over for good, according to Sam. VH bassist Michael Anthony (who's been showing up at a lot of Hagar's recent tour dates) hasn't spoken with the VH brothers since February and they haven't recorded any music, discussed a singer or anything of the sort since last year. Drummer Alex Van Halen sits on the Internet all day (and smokes), while Eddie Van Halen sits in his house and does nothing all day (and smokes). The way Sam sees it, no label, no management, no singer=no band.
The recent David Lee Roth/Van Halen reconciliation rumors: Dave was indeed writing and recording with the band circa 2000. Very quietly, things were broken off because, according to Sammy (according to Michael Anthony), Dave's voice was pretty shot and Eddie was growing incredibly frustrated. Eddie was very intent on writing "radio-friendly" rock, and Dave was into his usual "non sequitur" rock, says Sam. Hence, Dave's proposal to Sammy (again, according to Sammy) to do this tour.
Dave Lee Roth has taken seven bodyguards with him on his current tour with Hagar.
VH, Roth and Sammy were offered $50 million to do two shows in Las Vegas in 2001 for a big pay-per-view deal, the whole shebang. Sammy says they all turned it down immediately except Roth. He also says a whole tour with all parties was also proposed by the same person (a Las Vegas businessman) for dollars that would make your eyes pop out!"

If this is true, I cant believe he's smoking again after what he's been through-maybe its the reason Val left him, if thats the true story as well. All in all, Eddei seems to have gerowon into a bitter sour fucking puss. And his brother is an even bigger asshole all these years.

melodicrock has been off on every VH rumor they run...and Hagar should shut his mouth, doesn't he have his own band to promote? i'd hate to be a Waborita (his band), he talks about VH but not about the current group. Hagar's been flogging the same setlist since his first post-VH tour, he didn't play one thing from his last disc (Ten Thirteen) opening night of the DLR/SH tour. everyone says how tight Sammy's band is on this tour. they should be, they've been playing the same songs for five years...practice makes perfect...

there was confirmation somewhere that Ed was smoking at the golf tourney he played in earlier this spring. popular rumor is that the divorce is due to his drinking again...

I am not kidding you! Maybe its the improved sound quality of boots these days but on the VH3 tour they tear through Romeo Delight, Mean Streets and the Roth era Van Halen so well it makes you giddy. Actually maybe its the fact its pre 1984 VH that's not been heard since Sammy Joined..maybe i was overracting. Still the boots beat out anything they did with Sammy.

Even stranger than the split (which apparently happened months ago), they bought a $2.25 million home just a couple of weeks ago. Maybe they were hoping to reconcile.
