Madonna :: Who's That Girl (1987) ::: APPRECIATION
I will always love this song. So many memories. Just felt like shining a spotlight on it. Madonna :: Who's That Girl (1987) Who's that girl, who's that girl When you see her, say a and kiss your goodbye She's trouble, in a word get closer to the fire Run faster, her laughter burns you up inside You're spinning round and round You can't get up, you try but you can't [Chorus:] Quien es esa nina, who's that girl Senorita, mas fina, who's that girl Quien es esa nina, who's that girl Senorita, mas fina, who's that girl You try to avoid her, fate is in your hands She's -ing, an invitation to the dance Her is on the street, tu corazon es suyo Now you're falling at her feet You try to get away but you can't [chorus] [Intermediate:] Light up my life, so blind I can't see Light up my life, no one can help me now Run faster, her -er burns you up inside He's spinning round and round You can't get up, you try but you can't [chorus] Light up my life, so blind I can't see Light up my life, no one can help me now Who's that girl Now, who's that girl Now, who's that girl Now, who's that girl [chorus]

I'm surprised this didn't get any hits. Possibly my favorite Madonna song...the one that really made me like her but it wasn't until years later that I started to buy her stuff. It's sad that she seems to have forgetten it. The DVD was released recently...no bonus footage, though. Great post, Jan. Love the lyrics with emoticons!

a forgotten jem, just shows that even her throw aways are better than the crap on the radio today. You CANNOT use the name of God, or religion, to justify acts of violence, to hurt, to hate, to discriminate- Madonna

I love the video to this song, too. She was in this bohemian-looking pants-suit with a man's hat on. I haven't seen it in the longest time, though. They rarely show this song on TV. I think the last time I saw the video was during some special hosted by Kurt Loder showing all of Madonna's videos on MTV around the time of Ray of Light? GHV2? Called "Madonnarama"? Anyone have a YouTube link? Orgnote me.

Causing A Commotion The Look Of Love I love all of these songs! I too love ALL these songs, but TLOL is sooo gorgeous. I really wish she'd "rediscover" that one. One of the Mpls gay bars and had a thing for Commotion lately. They've been playing a super extenda-version at their retro nite for months now.

It probably already is....$14.99 is only the suggested price....I think places like Best Buy and other will probably be selling it for less than that. It's dissapointing that it has no extras and came out with no media attention but at least it came out...I didn't expect much but it's still a Madonna movie. I'm glad to see all these somewhat forgetten movies getting DVD releases, even without extras. The DVD format is great and it's certaintly helping the studios that keep releasing turkeys...DVDs give movies a whole new life that regular video couldn't always do (remember when some videos came out they wouldn't sell them in stores and you would have to wait so many months?).

Well Warners is infamous for their lack of extras, though they did a great job on the "Purple Rain" dvd. And even for the other Prince movies, they put the music videos that dealt with the film.
They could have put the "Who's that Girl" video on as an extra. But in the end you shouldn't expect much extras from a movie that originally flopped.

Oddly I have that single. That was the first Madonna song that I bought. Wasn't the B side "White Heat"? "Funkyslsistah… you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude"!

My fam had the "Who's That Girl" single. Rarely even see the video nowadays though, compared to all the other Madonna vids I mean.

i never liked the video
i hate when she played up the whole 'madonna with the kids' bullshit she didnt look very good in that hat and suspenders get up either movie's good though...actually i think it's one of her better acting performances, she wasn't "trying" so hard and didn't seem stiff or awkward I'll leave it alone babe...just be me

the movie is a guilty pleasure of mine...
loved it as a kid. parts of it are really funny. love the guard watching her getting changed in the cell humming "jailhouse rock" and then when she kisses her fingertips and smacks them on elvis's lips on the poster in rhythm still makes me giggle. and i have stolen the line "you want to know how i can tell you're lying? your lips are moving" a few times in life. "You marrying Wendy Worthington? I can't see it. You're not her type. "
"You know Wendy Worthington?" "Sure, Wendy from Scarsdale. I had her in the cab once. "Just because you gave her a ride, that doesn't mean you know her type." "I didn't say I gave her a ride. I said I had her in the cab."
