Jay-Z's "Purple Album"

Anyone know anything about this? I heard one track that samples "Purple Rain". Do all the tracks sample Prince music? And is this CD commercially available?
Don't hate me 'cause I'm NOT beautiful

It's a mash-up some DJ put together, not an official release from Jay Z. It's not bad actually, even though I'm not much of a JayZ fan. There was a series of these mash ups, one even featuring the Beatles White Album mixed with JayZ's Black Album.

The guys name is DJ Danger Mouse. He is one of the colaborators on Gnarls Barkley (Check out my Gnarls post) with Cee Lo and most are familiar with his production for the Gorillaz.

The Album you speak of it called the Grey Album. I prefer it to Jay's Black.

The Grey Album was by far the best (and first) of all those mashups. That made my year end top ten list.

Here's the official site - you can listen to the whole thing here. You might need Total Recorder to save the audio. Enjoy!

And there's acutally two different versions of the Purple Album.

I'm not a big Jay Z fan either, but I love that Grey Album.

I actually enjoyed it! Thought it was good. I lost it though, I'd like to have it again.

wow, I assumed that we were talking about the Grey Album.

Had no idea that there was a Purple Album too. Though, Danger Mouse had nothing to do with it, other than inspiration.

Same DJ do both versions? Is one version better than the other?

There's a whole bunch of Jay-Z Black album mashups floating around out there. I've heard that the Metallica mashup (Black On Black) isn't terrible.

The other one is MUCH better. There isnt a site for it anymore though, but I have it on CD somewhere. I'll find it and upload it.
