Alyssa Milano made music?

4 albums worth of pop. Unfortunately, only got a release in japan. Whats cool is that her voice got slightly better on each effort, and so did the producers.

"look in my heart" (1989) is a mix of sweet sensation type freestyle and debbie gibson pop. cant front on "kimi wa sunshine boy". She evens covers "da doo ron ron", which is cute for the keyboard part. Very limited voice, but the sheer sugar sweetness of the bouncy trax carries this album though. No ballads either

Followup was

"alyssa", also released in 1989

Little progression then the last album. Same producers (mainly Joey carbone). Not as strong personally, but the newjack ripoff "step by step" is a blast, and "hapiness" is an addictive peice of brainwashing pop. Its hypnotising.

Alyssa hooked up with Jamey jaz and ren toppano on her 3rd, the vastly superior "locked inside a dream" (1991)

She goes for Paula Abdul, dropping the freestyle uptempo's, and goes for broke with a collection of songs that do stand apart on their own. "No secret" has a Bobby Brown beat (thinking "every little step" here) and attiude. Also the verses sound like Bobby's "on our own". Good opener. Strong enough production.

"i want your number" is a jam, like Paula's "vibeology". Full of jamey jaz quirks like the busy crashing of synth brass and drum programming, along with camille backing vox. "closer to you" is a gorgeous midtempo. Seriously one of my fav songs of all time. eek

Title track is surprisenly quite soulful, with a honest to goodness, good chord change on the middle 8 (ain't too clunky like pop middle 8's usually are). Surprisenly impressive work.

Finially, Alyssa gives her last album up (only 8 tracks?), dropped in 1992

She takes a few steps back personally, with only 8 trax. Alyssa opts for a few ballads, which shockinly work. Her voice on her eariler albums were not strong enough for any ballad, but are just about average enough now. The cute "One last dance" (again by jamey jaz and ren toppano) is very strong, even if the chorus sounds familier (cant put my finger on it?)

Album is solid like the first 2, but not up to "locked inside a dream" by a long shot. "Waiting for your love" is a shocker though, for being yet another good adult soul rnb song.

So, there u go. Ask me anything about the albums. I think alot of Paula, janet and freestyle sweet sensation fans will like at least one of her albums.

I got one seiko album. She hooked up with maurice starr for her english album, Maurice did new edtion and new kids on the block. Its an ok album. "the right combination" is so cheesy, but a good ballad though. That came out in 1990 i think?

I haven't check any of Seiko's stuff (she's japans MAdonna/Cher). Her daugher SAYAKA became a musical star recently.

In terms of Japanese music, I love Hikaru Utada, Ayumi Hamasaki, Namie Amuro, Kumi Koda, Ken Hirai, Bonnie Pink and Gackt

Good point on the covers. They all have that "bedhead" or "i've just woken up" look. Hmmmmm. She looks like lisa marie presley on the 4th one.

Hard to believe jamey jaz started here (along with tommy puett). Still, they made good pop back then too.

japan really package their cd's well. I got a whole lil' booklet of photo's with that album. Some seller at a record fair was desperate to get rid of them. A bit foolish, as alyssa sells for an average amount on ebay.
