I have every TTD album except for that one. No matter how good the music is, I can't bring myself to buy that CD with that cover. Sorry.

It's not available on CD. That's the "cover", but it's download only.

That must be another reason I don't have it. [Edited 3/17/06 16:04pm]

It's all about Holding on to You. That thing is the bomb!
I read about the mess he served up to Philly a few years back and his Leno spot around the same time was questionable. But TTD/SM is the real deal, in my book.

I went to see him live and he sounded even better than his records.

Symphony or Damn released 1993 is a masterpiece. I never use that
word lightly but it is a masterpiece. If u like Prince, u will love this album. Its a better album than anything Prince ever released in the 90s http://www.myspace.com/craigssoapbox

Ugly cover art aside, TTD has one of the coolest voices in rock/pop/whatever today. He borrows a lot from Sam Cooke, but adds his own style of bravado and grit, too. And, what a lyricist.

I always found him a little too cheesy for my liking. However if there was no Prince or MJ I think he would have been an even bigger star, because I think when he first came out many people automatically saw him as a cross between MJ and Prince and didn't quite know what to make of him.
Another thing, does anyone know how old he is now? And did he ever make it big in the USA because he seems to have base himself in Europe?

I find it somewhat amusing how people on this site still refer to Sananda as if he's on his first album and never moved past it while those same people can tell you damn near everthing about Prince's growth from one album to the next. I understand that there are those who follow Prince's career closely because they simply like him better but its like people allow Prince to grow but treat every other artist as if they are in a time capsule and remain frozen while Prince is the only one allowed to grow and expand musically. Sananda is not at all the same artist that he was when he was starting out with "the Hardline". Each CD has been different and distinctive. It amazes me how that gets overlooked. Then again, on here nothing amazes me anymore.

The problem is, TTD is still a bit of an egotistical knob.
Whatever you do NEVER make the mistake I did and join his mailing list. He sends personal e-mails written by himself almost every few weeks and they are filled with utter nonsense. They are like the worst New Age books never published. I enjoy some of his music but he does think he's Jesus. Peace Mr7

Maybe I missed something in this thread, but how come TTD doesn't get panned as a obvious Prince clone? From the music, to the appearance and right down to copping a name-change and an independent anti-major labels stance; only to resurface as the same ol' guy with newer tunes.
Geez does he have any originality? Admittedly, I'm one of those that never moved past THE HARDLINE. I only dug half that album (generous at that), so if I'd have to catch up figure him out. test

Listen to his other albums! The other stuff might be discussable, but musically, he is more than a Prince clone! There might be some similarities though (especially when he sings falsetto), but he really managed to go his own way (musically).

Btw, why does his 2nd album ("Neither fish nor flesh") never get mentioned? The only one I totally don't know (besides A&V, that artwork just stopped me from anything)... Out of print, isn't it?
And he was on UK TV (Channel 4 IIRC) last night. The show was called "Faith & Music" or something like that.
