2 Bands to reunite(Guess Who?!):well not a real reunion for one Band http://www.starpulse.com/...long_with_
The Cars to Announce Reunion Along With Genesis The CarsUS rockers The Cars will end months of speculation by announcing plans to reform with Todd Rundgren as their frontman in Los Angeles on March 14. The Cars will stage a press conference at the House of Blues hours before Genesis stars Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins, Mike Rutherford and Tony Banks reportedly announce their plans to reform, also in Los Angeles. The Cars reunion has been top gossip in America for the best part of a year, and now group founders Elliot Easton and Greg Hawkes are getting set to announce their new line-up for a US tour. The reunion won't feature bassist/vocalist Ben Orr, who died of cancer in 2000, or frontman Rick Ocasek, who has repeatedly refused to get involved in a retrospective hits tour. The Genesis press conference has yet to be confirmed, but if the British supergroup does announce reunion plans, it will mark a huge u-turn in the band's plans. In a posting on the official Genesis website in December (05), Genesis management stated, "There are no decisions by Genesis to perform anywhere whatsoever at this time. This situation will not alter in the next twelve months." The Genesis reunion was reported in British tabloids over the weekend. A press conference is due to take place in LA on 15 March. Gabriel quit the group 30 years ago for a solo career, and Collins took on vocal duties. I guess it's cool that The Cars are reuniting with Todd Rundgren up front, but can we call it a real reunion without Ric Ocasek?

I want to see all the members of yes on one album (that includes the very talented trevor rabin), but that ain't ever gonna happen. (it did on 1991's "union", hence the name of the album, but infact, it was only a union on the tour that followed, not on record)
also, chicago would be cool. Even though kath is dead. Still cetera and guitarist dawayne ain't gonna come back.

Face it, there can't be any true reunion of the Cars. First of all, Ric Ocasek and Benjamin Orr were the heart and soul of the band, and Benjamin Orr died a few years ago. So any reunion would be incomplete anyway. Plus, having the Cars reunite without Ric Ocasek would just be making a glorified cover band.
The Genesis reunion looks a lot more promising, but has anyone seen Walter Phillips or Steve Hackett? Bring one of those guys back, and you have an awesome reunion.

I'm a big Peter Gabriel fan, but I'm not enthusiastic about this. What are they going to do? Revive "The Lamb"? New music? "I would say that Prince's top thirty percent is great. Of that thirty percent, I'll bet the public has heard twenty percent of it." - Susan Rogers, "Hunting for Prince's Vault", BBC, 2015

The New Cars were on Leno last night. THey did Let the Good Times Roll. IT kicked ass. Ric Ocasek may not have been there, but those synths showed up, for real. Todd Rungren seems comfortable in the band. IT was a very tight and energetic performance.
THey are opening for Blondie on their upcoming tour [Edited 3/15/06 8:34am] [Edited 3/15/06 11:36am] A happy face, A Thumpin Bass, For A Lovin' Race. PEACE.

The New Cars sounds like a cross pollenation between Utopia (Todd Rundgren/Kasim Sulton) and The Cars (Elliot Easton/Greg Hawkes) and The Tubes (Prairie Prince).
Not a bad combination at all but i'm wondering why they don't just call it a new band. I'm guessing because it's easier to get things rolling using an established name like The Cars. Combining classic Cars, classic Rundgren along with new material might make for an enjoyable show. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= The division of labor in this Genesis reunion should be very interesting. I wonder how many of the "Poppier Genesis" fans (aka The Phil Version) even know that Peter Gabriel was ever in the band at all. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn.
