Agreed. He takes the Mission Impossible franchise which was an ensemble show, and makes it all about himself. Turns the lead character into the villian. In the sequel, further marginalizes his "team" so that the Impossible Mission Force is only one guy--Ethan Hunt. Wow.
Tommy, if you want to make a spy movie and be the American Bond, don't call it Mission Impossible, because you have no idea what the show is really about. Umm, he starred in the movie. He didn't write it or direct it.

I heard on the radio this morning that he left the show as a result of complications from a stroke he suffered - not because of his scientology beliefs as most media has depicted as the reason. Let me clarify... TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC, Isaac Hayes is best known for one hit--Shaft, for which he won an Oscar. Given the short attention span of the general public, they may only know him for "Chocolate Salty Balls". Similarly, Prince, TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC, is best known for Purple Rain. Does that mean that Isaac Hayes isn't a seminal musical influence? No. It just means that teens, if they *ever* heard of him in WhiteLandia, would recognize him as the Shaft dude. Isaac Hayes is the wrong generation and the wrong genre for what sells nowadays. From his era, if you're not in the Rolling Stones, then you're not deified in the Rock and Roll Press. Wanna dispute it? Ask a coworker or fellow student or even a pal who's not into rhythm and blues, funk, or soul music to name THREE Isaac Hayes albums, songs, or accomplishments. I guarantee the top two will be Shaft, and Chef. Hot Buttered Soul, Black Moses and Scientology won't even be mentioned despite his long advocacy of that "religion". His acting and radio work won't even be remembered. I love the net. People get riled up over the silliest s**t. Screw the public and whatever they think. It's funny that they need this Scientology controversy to promote their show....and not, you know, quality shows. Before everyone jumps to conclusions, read this article but take it with a grain of salt since it's from Roger Friedman, who hardly ever gets his facts straight. If he is right about this, though, it should be a major story. Somehow, though, I doubt it.

It also states that he wasn't that pissed off about the epsidoe when it aired. If that is true, Roger Friedman actually did some decent reporting (for once,,,,although it seems to be too simple of an explaintion with little evidence to support it) and basically Matt and Trey are full of shit by trying to create controversy for their show which gets lamer and more obviously conservative. Would it be a streach to say that they also made up that the Tom Cruise episode was pulled to create buzz for the show as well as a new DVD set (which doesn't feature said episode, but I'm sure that the public will think it does...just like they thought season one of Chappelle Show had the Rick James episode). He didn't write it or direct it. He starred in and executive-produced the movie. He had final script approval. He had significant input as to the director, the marketing, the scheduling, etc. etc. What you see on screen is what he wanted the film to be; if not, he is not shy about suing or firing or chastising employees. Anyway, I don't dislike Tom Cruise as much as I can't stand the "religion" he shills for. No respect for the dyslexic high school drop-out. Complete and utter disdain for the scam he represents.
