Z Cult Question; Parliament-Funkadelic/E,W & F If Standed On An Island.... Regarded by many as the two greatest groups ever, all my life, it was always the tpoic that would come up. Who was better. Can't compare. That's like Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan. So, I pose this..If Standed On An Island, who would u take; P-Funk or E,W & F? SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

hey Aud, side note; Is there ANY chance of u coming back early from N.Y. It would be hella cool if we saw lewis together. Someone could take a pic of us at the show and u could post it on here. Since folks are DYING to see what I look like and shit. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

Unfortunately that's not possible. I'm trying not to think about missing Lewis Taylor and Donald Fagen. I'm sure something else will pop up in the near future that we'll be able to hook up at. Or you could just post a damn picture. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

Overall musical influence P-Funk hands down! Most sampled act band ever. Plus P-Funk has played a wide variety of musical forms, Jazz, Rock, Doowop, country Funk etc. Over hundred great musicians. They have always been the underdog.
Earth , Wind and Fire has the same sound they always had. P-Funk is more adventurous.

Fuck!!! that's too hard. My first instinct says P-Funk but EWF has too many gems on their albums. Fair But So Uncool? Clover? On Your Face?

I give you the Rock, but on early EWF albums you'll find at least as much Jazz influence as you do on P-Funk anyway, the overal influence the groups had on the music scene is also arguable (without counting sampling to much). EWF were the blueprint for many things to come and essentially helped in shaping the R&B sound of the late 70s and early 80s. in a nutshell: without "All'n'All" no "Off the Wall" still I looooove P-Funk to death . Earth , Wind and Fire has the same sound they always had. P-Funk is more adventurous. P-funk. Anyone see that comin? My reasons are for the various musical styles P-Funk did like Thump said. For everymood there is a P style to match it. Plus I like more "out there" adventurous music and P-funk has plenty of that. Plus Eddie Hazel, Bootsy, Bernie, man I could go on and on. I do like EWF and there songwriting was in the traditional sense better than P-funk's but they kinda have that same sound on everything they did which they did great. I just like the variety and adventure P-funk gives. Fantasy is reality in the world today. But I'll keep hangin in there, that is the only way.

O.K., time for me to give my thought process on this; Dig, I LOVE E,W&F. They were/are the most positive and most spiritual led groups ever. I think that's a major reason why their so popular. Great songwriting, great musicianship, great vocalists, great production. BUT, Parliament/Funkadelic,....man. The IMPACT and the EFFECT that they have had on me, ever since I was a small child....it spoke to me because even at such a young age, I UNDERSTOOD... I got it. Everything about Funkadelic. Everything about Parliament, I UNDERSTOOD. Their sensibilty, the freedom, the WILDNESS, that spoke to me because that is me. The impact that they have had on me as a musician is through the roof. I have never been soooo influenced as a musician by so many different players from ONE unit as P-Funk; ANYONE who has heard my shit can testify to this. Hazel, Bootsy, Bernie, the blending of rock with funk, the lyrical content, the vocal phrasing, so much of what I do is from them. And the cold part about it is cuz it's sooo natural. I'll get deeper on different levels later on. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

I do respect EWF for all their spirituality and positivity and all that. You cannot deny that or take it away. Nobody did what they did better. But P-Funk is on a whole other level on so many different levels. I'm a musician/songwriter but I play bass in live situations. In two groups at the moment working on three. And my nickname is Bfunk because of my love for P-funk and funk in general. But I also love my rock and psychedlic shit just as much. Point being P-funk provides all that and more to me and influences me still to this day. It's a part of who I am, always will be. Plus P-funk embraces the "freaks" in all their guises, pretty, ugly, rich ,poor, dirty, clean, black, white, whatever and all with a positive tip and message of unity without diluting what they're about. Truly One Nation. Fantasy is reality in the world today. But I'll keep hangin in there, that is the only way.
