Van's produced by Randy Jackson (BTW, he's American Idol's Randy, not the Jackson 5's Randy.)

I don't know where I have been all this time, but i just heard Van Hunt's album that was released two years ago titled "Van Hunt" and it is so soothing!!! Just what i've been looking for, something calm and refreshing like springtime...

i read on Amazon that he has a new album coming out April 4th, i will definitely be getting that!!! music

In that case, your next Spring purchase should be

Nice Springtime sound with consciousness as well. Very slept-on.

Very Much so! "People Person" is on point!! I just discovered him late last year.

...Capitol does a horrible ass job or promoting and updating his site so you have to be on the constant look out for new things...
I see. Hadn't been there in a while. When I saw the new splash I thought the site was revamped. They just gave the face a new coat. But did you check out the "Making of 'On the JungleFloor' " video? It's good to hear him talk about his craft.

"Executive Seducers" (Translation:He's a lush) Sounds good...what little you can hear. Can't wait for this.

We've been drooling over that EPK on his boards for about a week or two

The man gets absolutely no love and it's a shame because his CD is better than Van Hunt's.

I liked his song that they played at the end of Something New but you can't find the song anywhere not even on the Soundtrack
[Edited 3/13/06 21:36pm]

He had 2 songs in the movie? eek

Seconds of Pleasure (the song from the love scene) is on his album & on the soundtrack - do you know the name of the other song? Now I'm curious hmmm

The song is called Upon Meeting Someone New.
Thank You San Alejo for getting rid of my enemies. :-0

Dude needs to lay off the coke. I heard a story that he was throwin' a gig and Prince walked in. Someone on the side of the stage told Donnie Prince was there and Donnie (not ion the mic but it went thru) said something to the effect of "I don't give a fuck about Prince!" Needless to say P walked out and probably closed a door that could have helped Donnie get more well known. confused

Ok, that sounds like something made up, do you have a source? A credible source?

That doesn't sound 2 far fetched, though I can't say if it's true or false. But Marvin Gaye is Donnie's cousin, according 2 his web site. Prince dated Nona Gaye 4 awhile, who we all know is Marvin's daughter and that would make her related 2 Donnie also. Maybe he knows things we don't know from stories Nona has told or maybe while they were dating, he had an encounter with Prince that pissed him off. Who knows? Just my little theory...

That DOnnie album is another overrated album coming out of the black re-hash era.

Girl, you ARE late considering the amount of times he's been discussed on the org. But better late than never.

I've got a ticket for his April 8th show in NYC. Looking forward to it very much.
I think there's a change of plans. Hope I'm wrong...was looking forward to the smaller show

That is very strange. The Canal Room site still has him scheduled for the 8th: http://www.canalroomlive....endar.html

no chicken, ribs or coffee-until after April 4th

hello, lovely peoples. who was st. patrick anyway?..anybody know?...

well, the album comes out april 4th. we're still rehearsing. i took a few days off to change a few things (and, to get my head together). this was the first year that i forgot about my birthday. then, i forgot my father's birthday (a few days after mine). i would've forgotten my mom's birthday, too; but, it's hard to forget that your mother shares a birthday with Sylvester Stewart!

so, now it's crunch time. i'm worried that we won't be ready for our first show. i'm worried that ya'll won't like the album (even though i know it's good...that doesn't seem to matter). i do have fleeting moments of over-confidence-like when i'm riding in my car-listening to the new record-when the EQ on the bass and treble is just right. i start thinking "damn, this is better than.....just about anything!" then i go to the coffee shop. i hear some album from the 40's-the beautiful string arrangements, the wonderful melodies and the smoky voices; then, i go to the chicken and rib shack-i hear a bobby bland album from the 60's (before he started spitting)-gnarly guitars, and that trashy room sound on the drums...ferocious! that's when i start to question how i spent my time(and dimes) in the studio. "did i do enough?"

but, all in all-paranoia aside-i'm happy. you know what? i can, also, truly say that i'm happy to be happy for someone else. that's not an easy thing to do. even though you hear people say all the time, "awww, i'm so happy for you." for some, it's just something to say. they might WANT to be happy for you. but, they can't...not until they get something going for themselves to be excited about.... well, i'm sure this is more information than anyone wanted. i'm absolutely certain it's more than my record company wants me to share. so, i'll get down to the business of it.

i'm going on tour with the dynamic Anthony Hamilton and the sophisticated siren Heather Headley-starting april 6th. these two giants of modern rhythm and blues were gracious enough to allow me to play a few songs in front of their loyal and enthusiastic audience. it sbould be fun.

ina few select cities, we will, also, be appearing in our own late-night show called 'midnight violence...or violins'. these shows that one might also call 'extension chords' will be for the hardcore progressives who want to find out just what's under that scarf and hat.

and, on a final note, once you've heard the album, let's re-convene. you can tell me what you think about it (remembering to use the softest tones and the sweetest words possible). and, if you have questions, i would love to hear them. ya'll be good.

Yeah, that's too bad. Not crazy about the Beacon but I may go still.
