Who Are the Master Composers of today?

I guess I'm a top 40 classical music fan.

I love Mozart, Beethoven, and Bach. I'm relatively ignorant of other composers.

HOWEVER, I know nothing about modern day composers.
Are there any genius composers? Any that will stand out and stand the test of time?

That's like asking who will be the next Charlie Chaplin. It's not that nobody has the talent. They're now into modern styles of music.

I think certain movie score composers like Howard Shore or John Williams are worthy of the title of this thread. smile

Mozart, while great, is a bit overplayed, no?

theres an interesting surgence within the jazz and classical worlds either interpreting bjork's songs or creating "inspired by" symphonies....there was a segment on it on npr last week...

the interesting thing is that most balk at the idea until they hear it..

me thinks bjork carries the mantel...
