70s soul/disco classic of the day: "Don't Let Go" by Isaac Hayes (1979)

"Don't Let Go" headbang

(Stone)

Hear that whistle,it's 10 O'Clock
(don't let go,don't let go)
come on baby it's time to rock
(don't let go,don't let go)
I'm so glad I've got you here
(don't let go,don't let go)
keeps me grinning from ear to ear
(don't let go,don't let go)

(chorus)
Ooh-eee
mmm this feelin' is killin' me
Aaaw shucks
well,I wouldn't stop for a million bucks
I love you so
just hold me tight and don't let go

Thunder,lightnin',wind and rain
(don't let go,don't let go)
love is formin' inside my brain
(don't let go,don't let go)
I'm so eager I'm nearly dyin'
(don't let go,don't let go)
you've been keepin' your lips from mine
(don't let go,don't let go)

(chorus)
Ooh-eee
mmm,this feelin' is killin' me
Aaaw shucks
well,I wouldn't stop for a million bucks
I love you so
just hold me tight and don't let go

Hound dogs barkin' upside the hill
(don't let go,don't let go)
love is draggin' him through the mill
(don't let go,don't let go)
If it wasn't for havin' you, girl
(don't let go,don't let go)
I'd be a-howlin' and barkin' too
(don't let go,don't let go)

repeat chorus

Hold me tight if it takes all night but don't let go
I wouldn't stop for a million bucks cause I love you so
Hold me tight if it takes all night but don't let go
I wouldn't stop for a million bucks cause I love you so

You picked a good one. This is my favorite Isaac Hayes song. I love the long album version.

a little trivia about this song...

in 1979,Isaac was driving around town when he heard Rod Stewart's "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy" on the radio. That song inspired him to jump on the disco bandwagon and record a disco track too.

I have this. The song is FUNNY as hell, cuz u can tell that Isaac is waaay out of his element. Not musically, but vocally. He's trying his best to SOUND sexy with his out of key singing ass! It's his talk sing style that's funny on this. "Ahhh shucks"!

This is a great song. I never Issac's version was a remake. I heard 2 different versions of this song on the "oldies" station by me last weekend. Both versions were from the early 60's. Issac definetly had the "best" version (lol).

Yeah, this song was originally recorded by Roy Hamilton in the 60s.I agree,Isaac's version is superior.

jerry lee lewis did a cover of this song also in '79... he takes it in a different direction, though, and rocks the hell out of it... i dig both versions...

I love this song but it never appears on any of his collections (or if it does, it appears on collections that don't have his other big hits). Why can't labels just get along,
