It's funny is like another world in jackson land. the usual toned out Janet is not put on some 50 pounds and is fat. While the usual very thin Michael. has been working a out like crazy doing 300 push ups and sits up a day. as well as dialy runs on the beach.

The only rational reason I can think of is because, he wants to appear as though he is in active contact with Michael, when he might not be. I mean it might make him seem like he is, "in the know." Plus, if someone like Larry King asks about Michael, while the truth might be, "Michael and I don't talk every day, I'm not his shadow. And I'm not his doctor, so I don't know enough to talk about his health." Maybe he would rather say those things, to have something to say. I could see very easily a person being based in Bahrain, but then hopping a jet to spend days or weeks in different cities at the drop of a hat. JANFAN4L already mentioned the current nationwide problem of obesity .
Jamie Oliver , a professional-cook in the UK , recently introduced more healthier nutrician in the cantines from schools , because too much fat food was available over there , and statues proved that there was growing a big health-problem .
For some people , staying in shape is harder than for other people .
It can be the result of genes in ones family . Genes that make you gain weight faster than others . There are people who can eat whatever they want , and hardly gain any weight because they burn the energy much faster .
As much as losing weight drastically ( like boulimia or anorexia ) is a psychological problem , gaining weight is most of the time too . Another problem that can occur is that if you succeed to lose weight , you really have to keep it in shape . This not always succeeds , and one can fall back to their former weight ( the yo-yo effect )
There has been a lot of pressure on the Jackson Family last year , which could have been the reason why Janet gained weight .
She has proven before to be in great shape :

Everyone interprets Michael doing 300 push ups a day as an attempt to bulk up, when in reality, he did this before the Bad tour, before the Dangerous tour and before the HIStory tour. Which makes me think there is a possibility of a Michael Jackson world tour in the near future.
