Howard Jones Appreciation

Yet another very underrated artist from the 80's, who till this day continues to make great albums. Many may dismiss howard as a "new wave" artist due to Howards use of computers, similiar to Thomas Dolby. But if U dive into all of Howards work especially the last 15 years, you will find of the best "piano" players out there.

Well we all know the "hits", New Song, What is Love, No one is to Blame, Things Can only get better, You know I love you, dont you , Everlasting Love, Lift me up, Life in one day and of course Countless album cuts that werent "hits",. Howards chart success may have stopped but his "success" in created great work hasnt. 2005 saw the US release of "Revolution of the heart" though the CD was already in 2004 in other markets, Howard continued to show his growth as a writer, just listen to the track "Respected" and get the whole feel of Howard Jones.

Howard is starting 2006 off with a round of Acoustic shows across Europe, a new Studio album is also due to, the US will see the release of a Concert DVD from 2005 and yet Another compilation put out by the warner label.

Howard continues to release music also through his website http://www.howardjones.com where he formed his own label Dtox records and productions over a decade ago. Amongst Howard fans they mostly site Howards "In the Running" Cd as his finest as he showed his piano skills off for the first time, the jazzy, mellow record was clearly a "welcome" change to real fans though the Charts didnt see it like that. Other Very notable releases from Howard during the "Second Decade of his career are, "Live Acoustic America", Perform00 and Perform 01, and the very "forgotten" album "People". Though Howard hasnt really been a factor on US radio in over a decade (who has thats good) every now and then he gets through, back in 2001 Howard scored two AC entries with "I must Go" and "someone U need" with guest vocals by Duncan sheik, also in there is "Tomorrow is Now" from the "people" cd, written with good friend Jane Wiedlin.

Howard Jones may have just been a Chart success from 1984-1991, but his musical influence and best work still lies ahead.

I always dug Howard on keyboards , but I had a new appreciation for him when I saw him playing acoustic piano on "Live Aid" years ago....

I loved Human's Lib and Dream Into Action...I'll have to check out "In The Running"...Thanx!!

I recently got Perform 01 and it is fantastic. The new version of Hide & Seek is just brilliant.

I once heard a longer remixed version of "Things can only get better"... It kicked ass... I liked it much more than the regular version... But I don't know where to find it now. Can you help? Thanks...
