Sound A-like Song of The Day/The Cure-"Close To Me" and George Michael's "Faith" Why The Cure didn't sue Michael for plagerism is beyond me, but anybody VAGUELY familiar with "Close To Me" has to see the glaring SAMNESS, if there is such a word, between the two songs. When I first heard George's "Faith", I was like "Whaaat?! That's The Cure's "Close To Me"!!". We all know "Faith" was a huge hit for George. I know Robert Smith was somewhere scratching his head. I mean, the song, except for the lyrics, is damn near exactly like "Close To You". That's a blatant bite. Who else out there noticed this at the time? You know, you're right.  I never noticed it though until now. They are in the same key as well. I think the version of "Close to Me" from Head on the Door (with the handclaps, and not w/ the horns) sounds the most like "Faith".
