With all due respect to Madonna but you guys especially DavidEye make it seem Madonna has skills on guitar. I saw that tour on HBO she was playing 3 chords the whole time so what???

I know she is powerful and a icon but that woman just cannot sing to me, everytime I listen to Like A Prayer and
when the sister has her solo part in her song and then Madonna start singing again in her vanilla ass voice to me
it just hit's home that Damn, this woman really has a average voice. Nevertheless I have all the respect in the world for Madonna and for what she has been able to accomplish.

well, i don't love her nor hate her. You can look at it either way; some say she has no talent at all and only picks out hip producers to make her sound innovative to compensate this. Others think she's the best. I don't know, if you look at it purely from a music point of view she hasn't got that much to offer; her singing is lousy at times, and like I said she knows who to call when she feels like making money. This doen't mean i hate her, I have 3 of her albums, so.. She's an entertainer pur sang and most of all a survivor, but my feelings towards her are ambivalent.
Nelly Furtado rocks though!

it's interesting because Dr.Dre was quoted as saying over the Years He would Never work with Madonna or Michael Jackson.so that is Interesting from Dre.as for Madonna I Like Her Early 80's Stuff.Mixed on the 90's stuff till now.She has Stayed tough in the Game&has used Her God-Given Instrument to Last.I Give Her Props for Doing her thing but I don't really see what all the Hype is with Her still.for Me Diana Ross did Everything Madonna has done same goes with Deborah Harry IMHO.

I love when she played acoustic guitar during "La Isla Bonita",one of the highlights of that tour.If you watch the "Drowned World" concert DVD,look for Moonbeam in the front row. He's jumping up and down during "Beautiful Stranger" and you can also see him during "Candy Perfume Girl".

I forgot about that too...I was also at that concert (wayyy up in a suite) but, my friends kept telling me..."look at that blond guy in the front row...he's loving it!" lol

I really admire Madonna from afar. She's got looks, a bad attitude, stamina, charisma, and some talent, to add to that. I like all her classic songs including 'Like a virgin', 'Justify my love', 'Take a bow', Borderline, 'Rescue me', and 'Crazy for you'. I also enjoyed ‘The next best thing' the best out of all the movies she starred in. I thought the story line was really nice, and I liked her acting also. smile

I adore everything about this woman. She is not afraid to push the envelope. She continues to develop and grow as an artist under the intense scrutiny of the media and the masses, ready to declare her a "has been" at the first blunder. Love her or hate her, she is an ICON who will be remembered long after Marilyn Monroe. She has contributed a great deal to the removal of glass ceilings for women and gays. More than anything, though, she has remained true to herself and her artistic vision. I respect that very much!

I hope to god she puts that guitar down. Did you see her trying to play it on the Drowned World tour? She looked like she had 15 minutes of lessons before the show. In fact I dont think she even was trying to play any specific notes, she just kept hitting the strings. lolol.

Her new album sounds very interesting tho. I love her!

Don't get me wrong, toots, i REALLY like Bedtime Stories, personally. At the time, with what Janet had already put out and some of the other steamy, mainstream R&B that was on the radio, that CD felt like it was CHASING a trend not STARTING one. IMHO of course...

yeah Madonna was working with Mary J.Bliege's Producers/Writers.also Babyface&Dallas Austin. a track with Devante Swing from Jodecci didn't make the Cut for Various Reasons.but Yeah Madonna was trying to a Pop/R&B feel with this Album.along the lines of how She First Came out.IMHO alot of the Quote UnQuote Mature Vibe that Critics Speak on Madonna Comes from Her Song with Babyface"Take a Bow" that song has stood up for her&got Her back big.I think "Secret" was the Jam&Human Nature.but Take a Bow did wonders for Her.Babyface at the time was echoing Barry Manilow's Sentiment He was Writing the Songs the Whole World was Singing.Take a Bow did WOnders for Her&She came back after fallen off in late 92&some of 93.

Did Maddy really say that 'Bedtime Stories' is her least favorite album? Wow! I really love that CD.The songs all flow together beautifully, creating a warm, inviting "mood".I love the songs "Inside Of Me","Take A Bow" and "Forbidden Love".That's got to be the most soulful album she's ever done.

Surprising, huh? She HAS said that. I personally like it better than Erotica and it has some of my favorite tracks on it. 'Human Nature' was my wake-up/get-happy/get-pretty song for quite a long time. 'Inside of Me' is good too. I like the whole feel of the album now. It's probably one of the Madonna's I pull off the shelf most often.

What about Erotica? Although Deeper and Deeper may be my fave Madonna song, I never really got into that album...

'Erotica' is my favorite Madonna album. When I hear it,it makes me think I'm at a hot, sweaty New York nightclub or a rave...lol...the songs are intentionally cold and robotic to reflect the S&M themes of her 'Sex' book.I especially like the songs "Words","Why's It So Hard","Bad Girl" and the title track.

'Bedtime Stories' is just the opposite. On this CD,Madonna wanted to create a warm, soulful sound that's more "romantic" than "sexual".All of the songs have catchy, memorable melodies that stay with you long after the CD finishes playing."Inside Of Me" is especially poignant and dramatic. Many people assumed she was talking about ex-husband Sean Penn in this song, but she was really mourning the death of her mother.

Here's how the Dre connection came about.Madonna's Maverick Records label is releasing the "Austin Powers 3" soundtrack. They called Dre to remix one of the songs (The Rolling Stone's 1978 hit "Miss You"),essentially "updating" the song. When Maddy heard what Dre had done, she was really impressed. She called him and asked him to do two songs on her own album. This is an unusual collaboration because Dre rarely ever works with "pop" stars,he seems to prefer hip-hop (Snoop,Eminem) or R&B artists (Mary J.Blige).When No Doubt asked him for a song last year,he never came through.

But who would be fool enough to turn down Madonna? wink

This brings another interesting point!!! NEXT YEAR WILL BE 20 YEARS FOR THIS WOMAN. That's right that's 20 years in the music industry. Now this is quite a feat for anybody (be it a male artist or a female artist). Do you know how many artists would love to be in a position Madonna is in now???. If it were all to end RIGHT NOW, this woman could still stand firm on her accomplishments. 20 years in the biz(almost), had more number #1 hits than any female before Mariah came along, own record comapany(home of Alanis and Me'shell N'dege'ocello, all of her albums multi-platinum status,a great songwriter, one of the most photographed women of all time, and now critical acclaim(as an actress and in her music). Whatever you think about her, you got to admit that you don't spend 20 years at the top of your game BEING A FOOL. And this woman is certainly no fool.

I give her props, my beef with her have been things she has done outside her music. But as it relates to the things she has been doing with her music, can't argue with her not a bit(all of this from a person who is not such a big fan of her). But I respect her for what she has accomplished(and there are several of her songs that I love).

MORE LATER!!!

Well, last year they remastered her first three albums ("Madonna"(1983),"Like A Virgin"(1984) and "True Blue"(1986) with bonus tracks.Hopefully, they will now remaster the remaining albums such as "You Can Dance"(1987) and "Like A Prayer"(1989).I'd love for her to do a 20th Anniversary Greatest Hits tour...lol...
