Disco compilation of the day: "Super Rare Disco Volume 2" "Let's Start The Dance" by Bohannon (5:52) "Somebody's Gotta Go (Sho Ain't Me)" by Mike and Bill (3:54) "Overnight Sensation" by Jerry Knight (3:38) "If My Friends Could See Me Now" by Linda Clifford (3:46) "When The Fuel Runs Out" by Executive Suite (3:37) "Think Before You Stop" by Notations (2:48) "Zing Went The Strings Of My Heart" by The Trammps (3:17) "I Caught Your Act" by the Hues Corporation (3:42) "Happiness Is Just Around The Bend" by The Main Ingredient (3:30) "Every Beat Of My Heart" by Crown Heights Affair (3:50) "There'll Come A Time,There'll Come A Day" by Basic Black and Pearl (2:58) "Smarty Pants" by First Choice (2:35) "This Will Be A Night To Remember" by Eddie Holman (3:02) "Down To Love Town" by the Originals (5:53) "Mainline" by Black Ivory (3:58) "The Bottle" by Gil Scott Heron/Brian Jackson (5:10) "Ten Percent" by Double Exposure (3:05) "(Sending Out An) S.O.S" by Retta Young (3:15) "Remote Control" by the Reddings (3:59) "Love Insurance" by Front Page (3:42) This is one of my favorite disco compilations.I love it because it contains mostly rare stuff that you won't find anywhere else.I get tired of numerous compilations that contain the same songs over and over ("I Will Survive"..."Ring My Bell"..."Boogie Ooogie Oogie",etc).Granted,I love all those songs, but it's nice to hear some rare, forgotten disco jams too. Many of these songs didn't do very well on the charts, but they became huge underground hits in the nightclubs. One of the best tracks is the gorgeous "There'll Come A Time,There'll Come A Day" by an act known as Basic Black and Pearl.I can't believe that this great song flopped as a single when it was released in 1975! This CD is one of the few places where you will find the 1980 hit "Overnight Sensation" by Jerry Knight,a song that has been discussed several times on this site."Mainline" by Black Ivory is also noteworthy...a classic, dreamy disco track from 1979.If you are a disco fan,you must add this CD to your collection. Where's Finess at? I'm sure he's familiar with all of these songs. | |
