Favorite Gospel singers? Okay, I've been trying to find an old song by the Winans I think it's called "No Need to Worry." Haven't been successful in finding it anywhere and I thought that maybe some of the Orgers could tell me what the name of the album was that it was on. Also, it made me wonder who are your favorite gospel singers? I mean who really makes you feel their message in their music? .

I have many, but my faves are The Keynotes. One of the best albums to ever be recorded by humans is "Wide River" by The Keynotes. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

It's on their Decisions album. [Edited 3/2/06 16:24pm]

Thanks. Do you know if it's on one of Anita's albums or is it on a Winans album? I'm originally from Detroit where I first heard the song as a child. I heard it recently over the internet and would like to purchase it .

As Jimmy Castor once said, we're gonna go waay back...
James Cleveland The Staple Singers The Dixie Hummingbirds Mahalia Jackson The Five Blind Boys The Harmonizing Four If you can find it, get If You Believe by Brook Benton. He only made one gospel album, but it will have you in tears and wonder at the beauty of his voice. Also a little gem called Amen by the Wings Over Jordan Choir. It's all A-capella and the power and purity of their voices will make you tremble. Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

THE CLARK SISTERS! THE CLARK SISTERS! THE CLARK SISTERS! THE CLARK SISTERS! THE CLARK SISTERS! THE CLARK SISTERS! THE CLARK SISTERS! I cannot say.....THE CLARK SISTERS enough!! The Clark Sisters are my favorite female group PERIOD - gospel or secular. With First Lady Karen Clark Sheard being my favorite, that is my Kurren! Sho' nuff! SHE'S NO JOKE - A HUMAN BEAST!!! "If Karen can't do it, NOBODY can!" Speaking of Karen...go get her new cd, "It's Not Over" in stores right now! Look out for the new duets with Faith Evans, Mariah Carey, & Aretha Franklin plus she will be featured on the upcoming Coretta Scott King tribute album. Faith Evans & Mariah are HUUUUUGE fans of Karen, both naming her as one of their favorite singers ever. Here are some pics & a recap from that NARAS Grammy tribute they had for Mariah where KCS came as a surprise & murdered MC's song like ONLY a CLARK can!! One of the many highlights of the event was, when Karen Clark-Sheard, the famed gospel star, performed Mariah’s "One Sweet Day" and a snippet of "Fly Like A Bird" with R&B singer Joe and a robed choir. Clark was so exciting that she brought everyone in the crowd to their feet with her soul and very much church styled renditions. Her performance left very few dry eyes and brought much admiration from onlookers. In her closing speech, Mariah with tears still in her eyes, gave very endearing and heartfelt words of gratitude to her idol (Sheard). "Karen, you have been my vocal inspiration for much of my career. Thank you Karen for inspiring me to be a great vocalist just like you are and will always be." I am stopping myself right now, don't even get me started on no Karen or some CLARK SISTERS. I will be here all night giving the rundown on EVERYTHING there is to know about those women & their history and how bad they mama was. They are the ones who PIONEERED this whole "contemporary gospel" genre, all the hot stuff you hear from folk like Kirk Franklin, Mary Mary, etc....they started that. Very controversial for their time, I ain't gon' say no more though. I'll just post the most recent pics of the sisters together at the Superbowl Gospelfest. All my Clark fans, they will be recording their new reunion album this July in Houston, Texas. Join http://clarklounge.sudden.../index.cgi for more info! ^ Look at Dorinda trying to look like a supastar with them shades on, I saw her this past Saturday in concert! SOOOOO MUCH FUN!
