Pearl Jam have announced that they will release their highly anticipated, self-titled, eighth studio album on May 2nd through J Records. Pearl Jam's new album marks the band's first studio release in nearly four years and their first in partnership with J Records.

The album was produced and mixed by Adam Kasper and Pearl Jam at Studio X in Seattle.

Pearl Jam start the first leg of their 2006 worldwide tour. Leg one of the tour is scheduled to kick off on May 9th in Toronto, and will wrap up on June 3rd in New Jersey. My Morning Jacket will open on this leg of the tour.

Public on-sale dates and ticket information will be announced in local markets in the coming weeks.

I downloaded that new song the other day since I've never listened to them...

A friend of mine had tickets to see them once so I went and have been a fan since. I love the fact that their first album was so huge and they just sort of got over that period and made some great rock & roll ever since. Catch them live if you never have. You will enjoy it. More info here
