Kelis- pre-milkshake when she had the green and blue hair and did that 80's/rock/pop/ retro fusion. I loved her. I thought she was the coolest thing ever.
The Neptunes- Post 1999. After that, they started getting on my nerves. Missy- pre club music. Since that's all she fucking makes now. It's not even about sounding different anymore, it's about the clubheads One of Dansa's org hornies Supa is my gay messiah and he eats homeless dandruff sammitches on the bus. The reigning queen of GD. All bitches step down. Prince.org: Where's Mani?

I still like them but considering they just played in my town last Thursday and I didn't go kinda says something. i've seen NIN twice, and i feel like i got to see the best tours he'll ever do. some people just like his sound, and that's fine. i just feel like he's treading water anymore.

I now find quite a few of the bands I listened to when I was in my late teens/early twenties to be pretty intolerable. The prime offender for me is:
The Smiths - I used to be one of those annoying twerps who thought the were the greatest UK band since the Beatles. Now the only thing I can think whenever I hear Morrissey's voice is how I'd love to get just one swing at his nose. The Jam The Replacements Roxy Music I still like Roxy musically, but I just can't take Brian Ferry's lounge lizard routine anymore

Black Eyed Peas (pre-Fergie/"Where Is The Love," they were tolerable)
Missy Elliott (her output has been boring and predictable the past few years) Eminem (I actually liked him when his debut dropped, but when I discovered he was a huge homophobe and a**hole in '00, that's when I turned my back)

Now, to answer the thread's headline, you'd be surprised how much I've all of a sudden stopped caring about pop music as a whole. Exceptions to my abandoning pop are Motown (music that will never die

when missy's at her best, she does for hip-hop what bjork does for modern rock. she takes it WAY out there and she makes it fun and interesting and weird. it's frustrating when she takes steps back from that, but if she needs to get it out of her system, then whatevs...just come back soon.
